  • The BBC4 series On Drums, Guitar and Bass are great (I haven't seen guitar yet).

Stuart Copeland does the history of drums in modern music, Tina Weymouth bass, with a huge number of various prominent drummers and bassists, and stories about how much drum and basslines contribute to the sounds.

Watched all this over the weekend. Overall pretty good. I enjoyed Copeland's passion, but his episode didn't interest me as much as Tina's - She's was great. Lenny Kaye (guitar) was just awful-creeepy.

  • Lenny Kaye himself was a bit odd but i did love the guitar programme, and the idea that we have come full circle from Les Paul to Ed Sheeran in terms of using looping and playback.

The mental image of the smugness of Peter Frampton with his little talkbox still hasn't left me though.

  • L**** K*** (guitar) was just awful-creeepy.

I remember going out for drinks with a colleague one night, she brought her best friend along who it turned out was LK's squeeze when he was visiting the UK... She was twenty one, L was already in his mid fifties and still very married by this point... I never really liked him before but this made me loathe him... Poor girl...
