  • Until she’d made friends with the builders... 😸

  • I’m impressed with the world’s best cat litter apart from the rancid cheesy smell! I will try a different flavour one when we get through the current giant bag.

Anyone using cat insurance? Our recent vet bills have been silly money - I’m sure they just assume insurance will pay and inflate accordingly.

Edit: never mind, Cleo has some kind of liver/kidney damage so it’s too late to worry about that. :(

  • slowly the street cats are softening

Aki the white one has come on lots I am able to stoke him on his terms only tho.

  • Poor Lola seems to have gotten into a fight and scratched her eye. It was fully closed for a day, and now a couple of days looking like this :(. Vet has given us some drops to put in 3 times a day. Holding her down to put them is quite the experience...

Will be taking her back on tuesday and the vet will make the call on whether she needs surgery. I really hope she doesn't.

And our other cat spent all night throwing up everywhere and now looking miserable.

I feel like we're failing these cats. I know its not our fault, but still, feel shit.

  • We are house sitting. There's a cat. I just gave it the stronghold worm cure in it's mouth because I have no f*ing clue.

    Will it die?

Update: it has vomited all over the floor and is still alive at the moment.

In all seriousness: Please, help; is it dangerous for it?

  • Call the cat’s vet and ask? AFAIK, the reason for putting the drop on their back is so that they can’t lick it off and accidentally ingest too much...

Seriously, call the cat’s vet and ask. To be honest, if you just call a vet, preferably one that is a charity, they’d probably give you sound advice anyway.

  • Check with your vet but my cat once licked all of it off the back of his neck and after some vomiting and foaming was fine. Turns out they put something in it to induce vomiting if ingested and according to my vet at the time, it's not that toxic anyway.

Call a vet though because ingredients change.

  • Thanks both.

The cat is still alive and well. It doesn’t hate me yet. Or she just hides it well while plotting to off me in my sleep.

  • Sadly on Friday we had to let Euronymous go, I took him to the vet as I was concerned that he was constipated, and bloated, the vet looked at him, had a feel, and says he suspected that it was Feline Infectious Peritonitis, he sent me home because he needed to do some tests, and said he'd call between 7 & 8, it was the longest wait, unfortunately the prognosis was grave.

I knew when we got him that his life was going to be cut short by FIV at some point, but I hadn't anticipated it to be only 10 months.

    R.I.P. Euronymous.

  • sorry to hear that - you gave him great home and love , however short!

  • Sorry for your loss :-(

  • So sad.

You're awesome for giving him a warm and safe home and tending to his illness.

  • So sorry to hear this mate. Hope you are doing OK!

  • Anyone’s cats run around like crazy before doing their dump? Since Patch has refused to go out since around Christmas, I got used to scooping up her wee and poop again and now I can very accurately tell when she will do a dump - because she makes sure I know by running around like mad for a good half an hour before doing it...

She also loves to do it when I am literally about to sit down to eat!

    I hate my cat! 🤦🏻‍♀️

  • Poor Lola needed to go under the knife in order to save her eye. It hadn't improved over the last week of eye medication, so the vet decided to put her under to explore some more. He suggested there was a risk of her eye bursting and her losing it if something wasn't done quickly.

Turns out she had a fairly deep gouge on her cornea, most likely due to fighting with another cat. The gouge meant there was a flap on her cornea that was loose. He cut it off, and then stitched her 3rd eyelid closed to protect it while it heals.

She'll be like this for 3-4 weeks at which point he will open it up and hopefully all will be well. There's still a risk that her eye will burst though :(

  • I made one when I lived in 1st floor flat so my cats could get out and in, always thought there was a market for that kind of thing, I was lucky as there was a tree next to window so extended a bit of wood with rope wrapped round it to the tree and put a few more bits lower down so they could get to the main part of the tree. They loved to race up and down.

  • awww hope it goes ok.

  • In other cat news, Heidi is looking as confused as ever.

  • Lovely cats.

I hope the eye heals for your cat Hovis.

  • Sadly on Friday we had to let Euronymous go

So sorry to hear about this :(

  • Thank you all for your kind words!

  • Thank you for posting pics of your cats, it really helps seeing them when I'm getting a bit stressed at work. Its amazing how getting home to a beast meowing at you helps you forget the horrors of the working day.
Here is Gigi, she is chilling out (slightly), although when she plays she goes mental! We are constantly having to remove her toys from her water bowl & she has chomped her way through one of my plants (not a poisonous one!).
Hope everyones poorly cats make good recovery.
