Mostly chains. Tibits is pretty close.

  • I’d say oatly (basic one even) / provitamil is better than anything alpro, I find they put stuff in it I find gives it a weird texture like thickeners etc:

    Water,
    Oat (8.7%),
    Chicory Root Fibre,
    Sunflower Oil,
    Calcium (Calcium Carbonate),
    Sea Salt,
    Stabiliser (Gellan Gum),
    Vitamins (B2, B12, D2)

Edit: it’s all about personal taste anyway, not trying to say ones better than the other

  • Yeah mostly chains. From memory wagas do a vegan menu now, there's also honest burger with their plant burger.

  • Waterloo has the Windmill, King's Head etc, pubs with some decent vegan Thai stuff.

  • Thanks @MCamb as well for your input, appreciate it, will try the oatly and see how people like it!

  • Leon's new Love burger is pretty good.

  • Last time I put oatly in hot coffee it curdled. Don’t know if they fixed that or that’s why they made the barista version

  • Oatly was 'bity' for me. It was like putting ready brek in my coffee.

  • I have tried every available plant based milk and the Oatly Barista is the only one where you don't need a stirrer close to hand with your cup of

  • Finally tried the new Hellman's mayo - much as I would like to say you're better off sticking with the dedicated vegan brands, it is excellent.

  • Regular oatly is fine in hot tea, and I think goes better with tea than the barrista stuff, slightly smoother mouth feel.

  • Been knocking up aquafaba mayo too, dead easy and tasty.

  • slightly smoother mouth feel

    Keep talking.

    Oatly was 'bity'

FFS now this is exactly the kind of statements I did not want to hear after just making my mind up!

  • Oatley froths the best in my nespresso frother thingie

  • I've never had Alpro Oat curdle. It's not too sweet, and has a nice creamy taste. I'm always on the hunt for it @ £1 - Sainsbury's are pretty good for lower prices on non-dairy milk.

  • Hah. The struggle is real!

  • I definitely prefer oatly to alpro, although maybe my milkless palate has progressed since trying it. Someone made me a soya milk brew the other day and I really enjoyed it, when I was used to cow milk I always found soya kinda claggy and weird.

  • Same here, but I prefer the long-life (i.e. not chilled) Organic version that's just oats, water and salt. The Barista (very stiff froth) and 'enriched' versions (also long-life x2) taste a little too doctored to me, and leave a funny taste in my mouth.

  • Vegan dining in the dark:

In addition, the restaurant does not advertise as vegan even though all food and drink is completely plant-based. Imagine the thousands of non-vegans having this fun experience only to discover at the end of the night that they were eating vegan food.

    I guess the secret's out now ...

  • This was probably only a matter of time, but it's excellent all the same:

  • Oooohh, right up my alley - thanks for sharing!

  • Been listening to Ceris this morning? 😂

I now really want a dal.
