  • CANT be happily run with standard cable???

I’ve had a few pairs of EE brakes and my Red levers have never run more perfect than with my current EE’s and shit bog standard Shimano cables.

If you’re saying some kind of NOKON magic would make it even better, then TAKE MY MONEY!

  • Yeah same reason I did it on mine, front routing is a pain and the short piece from the top tube to the rear brake was also a nightmare on mine

  • Nokon/ jagwire elite link will let you get the cable round a tighter bend radiuswithout dragging (in theory)

If you look at the way the cable routes into the caliper then with standard cable and the front brake running from the right hand lever it applies a net sideways force, unless you have a very long cable with a very lazy curve. You may have adjusted it out using the alignment features on the caliper, but I found that it lead to very uneven pad wear, and given the price of ENVE pads that was annoying.

Also, finding ENVE pads in rural Spain is not straightforward, at least if you are me.

My rear brake is tucked up behind the bottom bracket, that's been fine.

  • UK brake routing is idiotic anyway

  • Was thinking the same, but actually sounds sane if you drive on the other side of the road.

  • yep. it's spot on

  • I contemplated going euro to solve my cable routing problems but I was slightly concerned it takes a long time to re-learn muscle memory and didn’t fancy stacking it

  • It’s funny you mention this uneven pad wear scenario as with my enves on and the new pads, I have noticed it’s worn the non driveside pad much more than the driveside. I’m due to re-cable the bike over winter so maybe i’ll put a longer cable in

  • Ahhh - never thought about that!

With a switch over to the carbon pads I may re-cable with some fancy stuff.

These cables have got 7000kms on them also, so probably due!

  • Anyone know if there are plugs/gromits to fill the gear cable holes on a caad10 disc frame when running etap?

  • Yes - I think there was a kit available for this, although I may be thinking of the 12.....

  • Yeah just found this
    https://www.cannondalespares.com/Cannondale-Synapse-Carbon-Di2-Frame-Plugs--KP298/product_detail/3-40298

Cant find anything specific to the caad 10 or 12 yet

Think the synapse one would probably fit though

  • These should also work - tbh any plugs that fill the whole should work as the hole diameter isn’t going to have changed, the geometry of the tubing is pretty similar etc etc

  • Black sugru?

  • Saw a Topstone in the flesh today, was only the budget one, Sora equipped, very pleasing metallic dark green. None to weighty, considering components.

  • Thanks dude that'll do nicely

  • did you see it in a shop or on the road?

I have been thinking about one since they announced its release but i really don't think they represent good value compared to some other gravel bikes

  • In my lbs, went to borrow/use the compressor, and there it was in the workshop. Not well up on me 'dales, looked ok for the money, obviously most parts would get replaced over time (if not immediately). Do they do it as a frameset?

  • Do they do it as a frameset?

    Highly unlikely.

  • Is that because it's essentially a budget bike? At the other end of the scale, lbs had a Giant Revolt Advanced (the £3000 one) on the shopfloor, stealthy as f##k!

  • Cannondale just don't really do frame only. They don't make any money on it.

Some know-it-all will post those Anniversary retro F-Si frames now. Fuck that guy!
