Could well not be hardwood. Any suggestions for what would be a good wood to use?
Edit: Easy to carve ideally, it's for my 8yo daughter to use. It's her new favourite pastime.
Lino cutting would probably be good for her to try too
The easiest wood to carve is green wood - ie. freshly cut. Preferable something without too many knots in it. Birch, maple and hazel are all good sorts.
