Would a third of an acre suffice?

They do exist, my friend's got one. I am envious of him.

Now I think of it, my mother's place has two bedrooms, a barn, garage, and around a quarter acre.
Just sold for £260k. Only slight drawback is it's in Argyll.

I'm pretty sure myself and some riding buddies got chased away from that house by a pair of hyperactive spaniels a few months back, so potentially not mtb fans

Anyone have any experience of applying for and successfully (or not) getting planning permission for a listed building. We're looking at a Grade B* listed building which has had some extension work done however it was only turning stables at the rear into a kitchen.
If we ended up buying this place we'd want to ideally extend the bedrooms (x2) which are in the roof over the top of the kitchen at the rear as the bedrooms are pretty tiny and in the eaves.
I realise its a bit of a case-by-case basis but be interested to hear anyones experience of this.
*Property is in Scotland.

Mentioned this before but finally got an actual bill generated.
https://imgur.com/a/DWynBL4Does this not seem astronomically high for a 1 bedroom flat? I cannot believe we're using this much gas AND electricity.
My previous flat was 26/mo electricity only so this usage just seems insane to me, in a smaller flat with the same lifestyle.
Gas boiler and hob but we very rarely use the hob. we have a nest thermostat and only have it set to 18 degrees in the evenings and when we're in on the weekends, shuts off at 10pm.

So the most recent readings for both gas and elec are C which are correct from me just yesterday so the numbers are correct (looking at my move in readings and readings submittred yesterday)
it seems my tarriff is quite pricey but not pricey enough to combat how much we've used.
Im now worried that somethings using up more electricity and gas than i think but god knows what... wierd that i think theyre both too high also -

Bill > £100 p/m is a bit crazy for a one bed.
-
• #27163
Yeah, seems very high. I pay around £160/month for gas and electricity combined, for a 5 bed draughty Victorian semi.
-
• #27164
43 a month elec and 90 a month gas. both seem very high.
Any tips on 'debugging' the usage?
The only abnormality I can think of is that our combi boiler occasionally takes 15-20 'tries' to light (although not every time) -
• #27165
That does seem high, I'm in a one bed with two people my average usage is about £65 per month for gas and electric.
However the boiler is only 4 years old and the energy rating of the flat is A, only our boiler and heating is gas everything else is electric

Dunno. That bill is such a muddle.
The first question I would ask E.ON is whether the meter readings are reasonable given the size and usage of the property. If they are, then it's just the tariff you are on buttfucking you.
The standing charges seem high but I have no idea how that shit works.

is our history
the estimated 'starting' reading are actually the readings we submitted when we opened the account

Gas usage seems very high non?
Just checked ours, most recent useful bill period 11th oct - 30th nov is 600kwh, your 1 month period Jan - Feb seems to be 3000kwh ?!
Get the gas meter checked, get the boiler checked.

Do you have any exterior lights or non-led lights that stay on?
I’d turn everything you can think of off and see what the meters are doing. -

The gas seems high (it's a bit higher than my 3 bed flat for instance) but if you work from home or similar and have your heating on a lot then maybe it would be correct. It could be your boiler is really knackered (although mine is 10 years old).
You electricity usage looks a bit lower than mine (although I do have a lot of stuff plugged in).
It may look higher as when you're on a direct debit they often smooth the payments over the year, i.e. the summer bills are higher than they should be to pay for the winter use.

Screenshot from my nest history, no idea if this is normal, high, insane to be honest?
Its set to keep the flat at an eco temp of 15 then go up to 18 in the evnings till 10

• #27173
Looks like you have had the heating on quite a bit!
Here's mine in comparison. Neighbours haven't tapped into your power?

ach! whats your eco temp?
-
• #27175
15deg c but it's only got below that once. Upper limit is 19.
I harness the free heat from the OAPs on both sides :)
2 bedrooms with an acre is a pretty niche requirement.
