  • Ah I see, I have the GTN....does that need the wire?

  • Judging by google images it would appear that you don't need the wire.
But the camera will not control the flash output, only make sure it fires. So you will have to do manual adjustments to flash power.

  • Just got a Panasonic Leica 15mm f1.7 delivered, initial impressions, super cute, lovely build, angle of view seems pretty perfect (30mm equivalent, but due to 4/3 frame, closer to 35mm)

  • I've never actually done manual flash adjustments, is that bad? I always just stick it on full whack and see whats what

  • I'm sure there are people more qualified than me to answer this, as I have never shot flash with film. However, with film you know you're ISO and I you should be able to find out the guide number and then go from there.

  • 35mm rangefinder. Want to see how I get on with rangefinder patch. Any bargains around or anyone have something for sale?

Bit late to reply, but I love the Canon P. Probably the only bargain left in interchangeable lens rangefinder cameras. I picked mine up with a 50mm f1.8 for £200 from Ffordes.

  • Need a quick advice. I'm kinda into buying a tripod for traveling right now. Is there any reason why I should go for 5 sectioned legs instead of 4?
Thinking of buying this or this. Also the Manfrotto Element Traveller is quite cheap right now. Are there anything I'm missing or is the Manfrotto a safe bet since it's about the same price as the Aliexpress ones?

  • In essence that's correct but expect the guide number to be in meters, or use a Flashmate if practical.

I have the ball head and its well made stuff.

  • Vaguely trying to save some space so thinking about selling some stuff I rarely use. Thinking of packing it together as a fairly comprehensive kit that could suit someone looking to do some video.

    Would probably include:

1 x Sony A6300 inc 1 x original battery + remote trigger and other bits.
    1 x SEL1670Z
1 x SmallHD Focus with Sony power pack + hdmi cables etc
1 x Smallrig A6300 cage + SmallRig monitor holder mount (so you can rig the Focus on top of the A6300 and power the camera via the 12v-out on the monitor. Then just plug a dummy battery (also included) into the monitor from mains and it'll go all day.
    1 x Sony np-f970
    1 x Anton Bauer NP-F774 + charger
1 x Sachtler Ace M MS inc bag
    1 x Sennheiser G3 wireless mic kit
1 x Zoom H6 (includes optional accessory kit inc. remote/extra mic head etc)
1 x Sony XLR K1M adapter including shotgun mic (this thing's brilliant - allows 2 x phantom powered XLR mic/line inputs straight into the camera via the hotshoe. I usually rig it sideways to the SmallRig cage so I can use it as a handle).
    1 x Rode VideoMic Pro
1 x LitePanels Caliber LED Kit (3 x mini LED fresnels including stands. Case is a bit scrappy but will include).
    1 x PeakDesign Everyday Messenger ("heritage tan") + 1 x Capture

Would chuck in a couple of new 64gb sandisk extreme pro sd cards.

All it'd need is a case to carry everything in. (I could supply a ThinkTank Airport TakeOff v2 for a bit extra but I use it so would only include if it was a dealbreaker not to provide a case - otherwise the stuff would come in boxes where applicable or wrapped in bubble wrap and in a larger box).

Potentially some other bits and bobs.

Would prefer not to split so if there's anyone serious and interested let me know here and I'll go through, take photos and work out a price. But as a guide, new the stuff would be worth 6k or more - would be looking for in the region of 3.5-4.5k posted or collection from Plymouth.

  • I'll give you £50 for the lot.

  • Sold. But you have to collect.

  • Does anyone have real life experience of Yongnuo lenses?
I'm certainly not a highly skilled photographer, never done any paid work or anything like that. Just a light hobby really.
99 percent of the time its just documenting my daughter growing up, no fancy arty stuff but I appreciate a good photograph.
I have a Canon 50mm f1.8 ii lens that I've had for about 5 years. Its amazing for the £75 I paid for it.
Looking for a 35mm lens in the thinking I can fit more of the expanding family(3 mth old son) into the frame.
Reading the reviews the yongnuo 35mm f2.0 seems like a no brainer at £70 on ebay? Any other suggestions?
Camera is a Canon 500d btw. Another question is wether I should get a used 5d ii? see they go for 400-600. lens or body or both?

  • How much for your m6?

  • Sold it! After much "mmm, thinking about it blah" for years. Took it to LCE and did the deed. Kept the 35 and 90mm though. Going to get them modded by duclos into cine housings that I can use more easily for video.

  • Interested in the 16-70 lense if you split.

  • I have both the 50mm and 35mm (using them on a 60d), AF on both of them is reasonably slow as shit, the 35 being slightly quicker. Quality isn't extraordinary but decent enough, can take some samples if you want.

  • Thanks, decided I'll go for the 35. About to order on eBay right now. Can't grumble with £70. Don't think I can justify spending in the hundreds for my uses really.

  • It's worth considering that you would have a wider field of view with the 5D mkii's full frame sensor - with your 50mm on your 500D you're getting an effective field of view of 80mm (1.6x crop factor).

The 35mm on the 500D will actually be more cropped in in terms of field of view than the 50mm on a 5D mkii.

I haven't used any Yongnuo glass but I'd be wary of a £70 lens new. That said, keen to hear what you think of it.

  • this is an option for a cheap wider angle if you wan to keep with the cropped sensor camera https://www.e-infin.com/uk/item/2353/canon_ef-s_24mm_f/2.8_stm_lens

  • I've never owned one as it always seemed a bit limiting but these days with a toddler and little in the way of pocket space or wanting to carry a bag/have anything strung around my neck that I could be garotted with, I think I'd really appreciate the convenience of a high quality fixed lens camera I could stick in my pocket that isn't a phone - potentially even with a retractable lens (or one that's just built into the body and doesn't pop out if that's a faster solution? Am open to fixed lens projecting from the body but obviously not too deep. Dad weight means my pockets are less roomy than they used to be.

I guess I use Sony a lot at the moment so would be good to stay there so I don't have to learn a Panny or Fuji menu for example but open to others.

DSC-RX1R MKII looks very tasty but perhaps a bit spendy. Maybe the lens is a bit pronounced for pockets - but obviously it still looks tiny compared to my current set ups (either an A6300 in a big cage or an A7S2).

    DSC RX100 MkVI / IV / III?

Missing Leica a bit after selling my M6 so even vaguely toying with a Leica Q...

    Halp.

Want something nice I guess - main challenges will be shooting indoors with mixed light sources and shooting outdoors without having to bother with anything like ND or polarisers so I'd want to be able to get enough DR that I don't blow out skies/water etc here in sunny Devon.

  • That low pass filter on the RX1R looks WILD

  • I am in the same position, either Q or RX1R II but it seems like the RX1R III is on the horizon so I am going to hold out for that.

  • Cheers - spotted something about a Q2 as well so will hold fire for now. RX1R II does look really nice though - dead tempted.

  • yeah same .. almost exchanged my M6 for a Q .. all the film stuff now happens on M3 or Minolta CLE.
