I've never owned one as it always seemed a bit limiting but these days with a toddler and little in the way of pocket space or wanting to carry a bag/have anything strung around my neck that I could be garotted with, I think I'd really appreciate the convenience of a high quality fixed lens camera I could stick in my pocket that isn't a phone - potentially even with a retractable lens (or one that's just built into the body and doesn't pop out if that's a faster solution? Am open to fixed lens projecting from the body but obviously not too deep. Dad weight means my pockets are less roomy than they used to be.
I guess I use Sony a lot at the moment so would be good to stay there so I don't have to learn a Panny or Fuji menu for example but open to others.
DSC-RX1R MKII looks very tasty but perhaps a bit spendy. Maybe the lens is a bit pronounced for pockets - but obviously it still looks tiny compared to my current set ups (either an A6300 in a big cage or an A7S2).
DSC RX100 MkVI / IV / III?
Missing Leica a bit after selling my M6 so even vaguely toying with a Leica Q...
Halp.
Want something nice I guess - main challenges will be shooting indoors with mixed light sources and shooting outdoors without having to bother with anything like ND or polarisers so I'd want to be able to get enough DR that I don't blow out skies/water etc here in sunny Devon.
