  • Someone on here, might be @Skully?, can do leather saddle changes.

  • Chopped team pro for the period......

    Or this....cheap at the moment

  • Team pro suggestion is bob on, thanks. B17 is too chunky.

This is quite nice a nice build: http://collection.rydjor.com/bikecollection/1973mer.htm
    I think that's a team pro..

I'm just aiming for black saddle/bar wrap with the gumwalls.

  • BITD I ran 24 spokes on the front but bottled it on the rear lol. Alf Engers speed machine ran 24/24 :)

  • Interesting, thanks! So the 24h is period correct after all...

This frame was built in 1978 too.

    Ringing Hilary tomorrow.

  • Spoke with Hilary Stone a few months ago and he had those 24h wheels, but decided against buying

The silver 32h wheels fitted to this have been sold. I have bought some 28h Campagnolo Record wheels with Wolber profil 18 rims. Took a picture to see how it looks with darker rims. The tyres are a bit darkened so could look better but I've got some new tyres on the way. Not sure I like the dark look though.

The plan is to use the hubs and lace (my first wheel build) to Fiamme Ergal polished silver sprint rims - these are bought and on their way over to me.

Also swapped out the B17 for a Brooks Professional. Much happier with it.

  • These are the same model rims - mine have a little patina but should look good polished up

  • Update on this.

The Fiamme Ergals came through but only one was restorable so I sent it back to seller. He then kindly offered me some fantastic condition 28 hole Mavic Monthlery Legeres which I think will be great.

I polished up the Record hubs taken from the Wolber wheels ready for the Mavics and also managed to source some NOS Schwalbe Milano tubs but undecided on whether to use these on the final build. Rims will be arriving next week.
