That's a weird shot, it's not that massive in real life. The biggest Cargo version Urban Arrow do is one for Albert Heijn who delivers their groceries with it. It shares a lot of parts with the Tender you posted.
Handling all that weight is why they resorted to using some (small)car parts. Their non cargo models (Family and Shorty) are a very common sight here in the Netherlands.

Would like to try out one of these monster sized machines, if you look on their website it shows some cutaways of the front end. I think some small <1980 <1litre cars used the same front end and brakes!

New monster trailer is here. Its huge but exactly what we needed.
Twin axles can be swapped to a single axle (15mm OD) in any of three positions.
Weak spot is going to be the arm, just uses the same cheap steel arm (steel good for this) with a spring inside it. Will see how long it lasts then maybe make something out of a stainless rose joint and a swinging Bush (like a surly bill /Ted).

We have been told to sell our Bakfiets Classic Long due to space issues in our shared Garage.
Its beautiful to ride. Has a canopy and kiddy seat.
Used to be a LGC hire bike so is far from new, but everything works properly and is so comfy and easy to ride its absurd.
£600 picked up from Edgware Rd (ish)

Good price and good luck with sale!
Not the quickest, but super relaxed position combined being so easy to ride ride puts a grin on your face on your face every time you get on one... :)

Got the frame from oop north this week. Ordered some cabling and stripped a rear wheel and brakes and stuff from deceased bikes at the scrapyard. Good enough to test until I can source quality parts. Popped the near complete Deore XT 8spd group from the broken mtb so it will shift well at least.
Managed one photo of the bike built up before the torrential stormy windy weather forced me back indoors. Ignore the saddle angle/long cables/poxy zipties.
Barely managed a couple minutes around the car park - way too windy, and steering was way too twitchy. It seemed better when turning than when heading straight.
Something must have been loose on the steering rod or in the headsets, allowing the rod to swing, front wheel to wobble, and shake the steering in my hands. Also likely an issue with being totally unladen. May put a bag of bricks on it next week when I’m back.
Also very easy to oversteer and lock out the front wheel, slamming the rod against the frame. Maybe I must look at some kind of limiter to reduce my steering range.

Hah looks pretty mad, but cool.
Introducing a range limiter is deffo a good idea, maybe before loading it up... also is there some sort of way to make the wheel want to self align? Like tying an elastic bungee or something from the steering bar to the frame like the urban arrows have. Orrr something more high tech like the steerer damper kit that you can get for bullits 😂. Think that might improve on twitchy feeling
Any idea what the max load is roughly?

Hole in the fork crown, bed spring, jubilee clip around the frame just past the bend between headtube and wooden bit.

This is exactly what I’d visualised last night!
I have some spare spring bar things from cheap shoe trees, they are pretty solid, but maybe more difficult to mount. Will have to hunt for bed springs now!
@MCamb no idea on max load. The oldboy who made it was 11 stone and happily stood on the platform, and normally makes these with a wooden kiddy box like a bakfiets to transport kids in.

Looking good, I found not looking at the front wheel helped for a smoother ride, did you get this from a guy in St Helens?
-
• #2198
Yup. He was a really nice guy, his garage-workshop was jam packed with piles of parts, and frames cut ready for the next build. He still had the complete bakfiets with useless front suspension that had been listed on ebay, and a sidecar bicycle too. Apparently he’s made around 65 various iterations since retiring 5 years ago, showed me loads of photos on his tablet including recumbent trikes, cargo trikes, disabled-person-at-front cargo trikes...
Had I known he’d also made all these other styles I’d have asked for one of those instead. Will see how I get on with this though.

You can get steering "stabilizers" ("stabilisers" often wont show them in a search) online if you want to pay for a more basic one than the bullit one but idk if they'd work with that tube size/shape. I think they're intended more for dutch bikes more than cargo bikes.

Thanks. I can see the options on that site, look like a good prefab solution, near identical to what I’d try to put together anyway. Will have a proper look this week.
Yeah, love that extender bar, I’m going to try and get one made for mine.
