  • Finally got this put back together after a few months sat in the shed. Forgot how much I love riding it! Needs a few bits sorting out.

  • That's because i don't really want to see get go 😢

  • Hi Just joined this site and have just been given a Paul Donohue road bike with 531c tubing and Shimano 105 (1055) groupset. I'm going to have the frame repainted and rebuild it over the next few weeks.

  • Welcome to LFGSS.

Paint looks amazing, why would you repaint?

  • Hiya, the frame has rust spots all over it and it deserves a freshen up. Would love to find a bike configurator so i can choose some colours

  • I fin one really in Paris and buy it for pratically nothing, colombus 853 apparently.
Frame's perfect, the fork nearly killed me.

  • Amazing paintjob! What's the story with the fork? Looks nasty.

  • Was riding home after work, was around 20-30 km/h (around 18 mph) the fork broke in half for no reason, KO, nose and jaw have small broken parts.

  • Shit! Nightmare stuff. Are you still riding the frame with new forks?

  • Get off the hospital yesterday! Gonna ride it again and my other bikes soon!

  • Interesting little nugget of information. I got curious about my Graham Weigh this morning & noticed that there's a frame number stamped on the BB (never noticed before as it's quite faint & further forward than I'd have expected). So I emailed Graham Weigh Cycles about the bike, mentioning my Donohue too & got a response this afternoon.

Not original forks, but has the 531 Millennium down tube which Reynolds rolled exclusively for me, I supplied Donohue with the tubing and his guys built them. In theory only my frames had this down tube so, go figure, as the Americans say.

  • Lots of love for Donohue-built Weigh’s :)

  • We (Eastlands Velo - youth track racing club at Manchester Velodrome) are still using the Graham Weigh 'junior track bikes for Manchester' which Paul built for us in the 1990s, they are superb machines and our younger riders still get plenty of use out of them.

  • Lovely to hear! I feel like I've missed a trick (track?) here, by growing up in Manchester in the 90s but not developing a real interest in bikes until way later! Do you have any pictures?

  • I don't have any on file, so I will take some next time I am at the track.

  • Eagle-eyed forumists might recognise this from the classifieds and/or upthread in previous guises. Bought at Christmas and I’ve just got it built up after -cough- getting the fork drilled -cough- by Argos.
I ummed and ahhed about that but in the end, I want to use the thing. Needs a longer stem, which is in the post.

It’s coming with me to Newport track next month which I’m quite looking forward to, only having ridden their hire bikes before.

Might get a non-shit photo of it at some point :-)

  • Nice! Will look great with a longer stem. Looks good with all the silver parts.

  • Yeah that’s an 80mm, which is fine on my road bike, but it just looks and feels wrong on this. It’s a 90mm on the way but might even go 100mm depending on how that feels.
Could do with lowering the stem too actually, but that’s as low as it’ll go.

Needs a nicer seatpost as well, but i imagine I’ll keep forgetting to do that.

Edit: pic was equally shit Slightly better pic

  • Visiting some family & my connection is a train from King's Cross to Kings Lynn & there's a Donohue on it! Second time I've randomly bumped into one.

Edit: the owner was getting off where I was so got chatting. Custom made for her, she wanted 700C wheels & the idea was rejected by all frame builders but Paul Donohue.

  • Was it quite a dinky frame then?

That rear brake cable looks strangely slack - I hope she’s not left the quick release open or something :-/

  • Yeah, was small.

I see what you mean, least Norfolk is as flat as a pancake so not like they'd be shooting down any massive descents.
