  • That’s the old model.

  • It's from an email I've just got from Brompton asking me to sign up for early information about the Chpt 3 bike release.

  • Frame is black, fabric custom saddle, red suspension, Schwalbe one or new Kojak tan wall tyres, 6 speed only (except sjs as I’ll be making 2 speeds) black edition superlight..

  • Looking forward to seeing this in the flesh, will it be light?

    #nicebutpricey

  • Be the same as yours! But 6 speed only!

I may do a fancy custom build though tbh... full ti parts workshop upgrade 2 speed?

  • 6 speed only, I think they missed a trick there.

  • Yup, but I’ll just convert to 2 speed

  • This is the 2019 version as described on stows.co.uk

The CHPT3 is back for 2019! Due to a very limited run of these bikes we have only got one coming so place your order now or lose out! Delivery expected early March

“A Brompton that a die hard roadie would consider”

The Brompton design team worked closely with David to put together an aesthetic that would encourage road cyclists to think
    about Brompton.

A stripped back look; no mudguards or luggage. Attention to detail; premium grips and saddle. Never forgetting to keep everything
lightweight; black titanium rear frame and forks, Schwalbe tan wall tyres.

A performance Brompton for the city.

Maintaining the aesthetic of the original, with the fire red front frame but now combined with a textured black finish, making the bike more purposeful and distinct from Black Edition:

    S-type only
    6 speed only
    Machined hinge clamps
    Machine seat-post QR
Fabric Scoop, Tirailed saddle with Devesaprint
    Fabric grips
    New Schwalbe One 35mm tyres
Race tuned, extra firm, red suspension block

  • Imo, it’s a step, but not a big one close to the mark

  • Same, I thought I would like it a lot more, but aside from the new tyres the rest looks a little bland. That grip is definitely a marmite scenario IMHO.

Glad my upcoming upgrade will not get overshadowed by this.

  • Yours is definitely nicer. Love the grey sparkle.

  • What you upgrading?!

Yeah, I’m not fussed by it, so much more they could have done for a race bike...

Yours is tidy, grey sparkle is dope

  • for a race bike...

It’s a folding city bike for bankers...

    ...and architects

  • The new chpt3 is supposed to be racey...

    6 speed only is laughable

  • No the 2k price tag is the laughable part!

  • He says, whilst rolling around Regent’s Park on an L96

  • Ouch! Well play! ;)

  • How do people find the all-in-one Brompton brake pads? The old fibrax cartridge ones always did the job but the new ones are good in the dry and comically bad in the wet. Like "oh shit nothing is happening" for the first couple of seconds......

  • naff, brompton stopped production of them, use holders with Swiss Stop BXP

  • This was my experience last Friday when riding home. To insult to no braking, the pads are almost to the replacement line from a relatively brand new set. On the plus side as @maynardeames said it’s almost time to replace them with something more substantial with some swisstop!

  • just for clarification, you can swap out the brompton brake pads with the swiss stop BXP's? So you just need the pads and not the and holder?

  • you need new holders and pads, the brompton 1 piece pads are 1 piece so have no inserts. The old / current brompton pads with holders/inserts, take the BXP inserts no problem

  • I recently scored some Ultegra pads/ holders for my Brompton - heavily discounted from Chain Reaction - hopefully the bolts on these won't rust as quickly as the original Brompton ones did.

  • Chpt3 Brompton. Nice, but Millarpricey.

And who is riding a Brompton without mudguards?
