is this ok or do I need to get the file out?
See what happens when you ride it. I had one which cleared static but took the paint off the stay under my awesome power. A bit of #judiciousfiling on the spider won't do any harm

As sub-awesome as my power is, I reckon I will get filing (judiciously). It makes me a bit nervous looking at it. Cheers

Even if you file the crank, that bolt is almost as close to the chainstay. I'd get a longer BB.
-

The bolts actually could do with tightening down, which will probably help a little. I’d rather not get a longer BB as it will put the chainline off.

I've always sort of fancied one of them
-

Ok I worked it out that using a 107mm BB only makes chainline off by a millimetre-ish, so I’ve followed your advice. Ta!

I bought this frame with the intention of just swapping everything over from my current bike. However, I need new forks due to steerer length.
I'm on a budget and can't decide whether to go for these:

Or to get some Hylix carbon ones and replace the headset and stem too, again, something cheap like a Deda logo or something.

My brother bought a set of those BLB ones. They do look pretty smart.

I have straight chromed Genius forks in 1" for sale if you're interested.

I could definitely be tempted. How long is the steerer (frame has a 150mm headtube) and how much posted?

Will check later this weekend. Are you UK based? If so, the price shipped is 65 €.

Yeah, UK. If it's long enough and in decent condition that sounds perfect.
-
• #122266
It has hardly been used.

• #122268
They look perfect for my needs, fingers crossed the steerer is long enough.

vintage? looks brand new to me! will it have hot pink cables to match?
-
• #122275
That's thanks to the Turtle Wax. :) The bike dates from 1993.
I don't know if hot pink cables are sold here; will check.
Is living filing or is living gouging chainstays? And how much is a little?
