is it really necessary to be that snarky about answering a question like that?
I would add also @Mentats, Kool Stop pads are very much worth their while. Would much rather have cheap brakes and great pads than the other way round.

It's 15 years since I had a bike with V-brakes, why do you still have one?
If I had to replace the brakes on something so encumbered, the short list would be Shimano BR-T610, BR-T670 or BR-T780 or Tektro M730. I'd try to avoid any of the cheaper offerings with the pads moulded onto the bolts unless things had come to a pretty desperate pass.
