• Will probably be a Marika, arrive in three months and have the battery life of a mayfly but mibbe...

  • Let me know if it does cos that's a steal!

  • My dad got a Makita impact driver from China. Seems legit. Think you might have to pay some import fees and what not though so factor that in.

  • they're also selling a circular saw, sds drill and jigsaw for similar price. Sheeeit, might just get the lot.

  • Given the failure rate for them I'd much rather buy in the UK and have the warranty tbh. I got a Bosch impact/drill for about a ton and was very glad to have the guarantee when it failed.

  • As would I if it wasn't gonna be like £100 more to buy it from the UK from somewhere that is going to be of any use with warranty.

I'm still gonna keep my eye out for a cheap used one.

  • Well I bought the circular saw, will report back on what is delivered...
annoyingly bought the grinder last month from Amazon for £70....

  • "We had to remove this listing from the site and you're not required to complete the transaction. If you've already sent payment, the sale should process as normal and you don't have anything to worry about. If you have any questions about delivery, please check tracking or contact your seller. If you run into any trouble along the way eBay is here to help. Please visit the Resolution Centre to help resolve any problems you may encounter.
This user is no longer registered on eBay.
    This item has been dispatched."

There's a tracking number and it shows something has been sent...

Think if there's fees to be paid I might just cut my losses and dinghy it.

  • More of a grumble because I doubt I'll do anything about it, but I won this orange gringo:

    https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Orange-Gringo-18-5-Classic-Steel-Mountain-Bike-Frame-Disc-And-V/254063534255?hash=item3b275de0af:g:h3MAAOSwbetb3vvS

Which very loudly declares that its a steel mountain bike in the auction title and info, but it is indeed an aluminium bike according to the sticker on the frame and a magnet.

Feel like a real bargain hunter would do something, but in the end if he says 'ok mate ship it back and i'll refund you the shipping fee' I wouldn't bother because it still seems like an OK price?

  • Did Orange ever made a steel gringo ? I'm not sure they did, Its the P7 you should have bought.

Seller clearly doesn't know what there selling.

  • A quick DuckDuck gives you a full breakdown on what the Gringo is. A cheap aluminium thing. Seller should have done their homework. I guess you could have done yours too, but yeah the fault really is with the seller.

Ask him to send you £10 in compensation.

He's probably glad to be shot of it.

  • I did do a bit of googling and indeed couldn't find mention of a steel gringo, but figured that maybe there had been one and I just couldn't find it. Hard to know exactly what it is without info on model year etc.

  • I bought a 'cambium c13' off ebay and the seller sent me a C15. They accepted the return and have received the package. A refund was issued yesterday, but apparently it wont clear until the 8th Feb which seems a bit shit. Is there any way to make this happen faster? I'm broke now.

  • Paypal refund? That's about the amount of time it takes for whatever reason Paypal claim. It's a bit shit if you need the money but there's nothing I know of you can do to speed it up sorry.

  • Yep, paypal refund. Ho-Hum, at least it's coming I suppose.

  • I opened a Paypal dispute on a watch I bought that wasn't as described - laid my case out well with lots of supporting images and notes etc, thought my case was pretty iron clad (well the proof was in the pudding, or so I thought). However it was resolved in the sellers favor. Has anyone appealed and if so, successfully? Virgin disputer here.

  • I always find if you phone and actually speak to a customer rep they always always go in your favour. Fuck knows why, but they just do. Obvs be very clear why you're not happy and insipidly polite...

  • Great - thanks for the tip off, much appreciated.

  • Ebay update that from the 4th of March you have to include a tracking number with every item you sell. Clearly a bullshit way to get people to post through their shuttl delivery service. Beginning to hate ebay more and more.

'We want to make selling and buying on eBay a fair process, so we’re updating our tracking policy. As of 4 March 2019, you are required to upload tracking in the structured data field before the estimated delivery date has passed. This is so that eBay can protect you if a buyer claims they haven’t received the item. Sending the tracking number to the buyer via email won’t protect you from a claim. We always recommend you upload tracking information as soon as you have shipped the item. See the eBay Money Back Guarantee for details.'

    https://www.ebay.co.uk/help/selling/posting-items/tracking-items-youve-sold?id=4088

  • That could be the end of 3.99 second class recorded . Bstds

  • From a buying perspective, it’ll likely be the end of free postage on cheap items that get sent unrecorded.

As a seller, you’d hope that they’d accept the ‘Reference number’ thst you get with Signed For services but the blurb in the email is pretty vague.

  • If you send recorded, there's still a tracking number on the receipt. Might be enough?

  • Lots of chat here about how it’s not going to be that using a tracked service is becoming mandatory, rather that it’s if you use tracking you have to upload the tracking before the expected delivery date.

Business sellers have supposedly had this since September, it’s just getting rolled out to everyone now.

Also discussion of how the only Royal Mail service with actual tracking rather than just proof of delivery is Special Delivery so you’re looking at around £6 min cost.
