  • hmm ok, i stupidly bought 38mm tyres, might be tight under 45 .. oh well.

    will be SKS

  • I’d have been running at least 35s and there was room for bigger I think.

  • ah nice! thanks, any pics?

  • Get the matt bluemels. They look nice

  • Same question here, let me know if you find any @amey

  • I had 38c voyager hypers under 45 pdws, will upload a pic when I have access

  • I just used m4 bolts in mine. Seems to be working fine

  • Best I can find right now, pretty certain these are 35c randos.

  • thank you very much! thats a lovely build, still got it? I have another question regarding the cog, are those stock wheels?

  • I have the 45 VO's as well with 35mm tyres. I reckon you could fit 38s if you have enough lateral room.

  • No I got rid of it last year.

That’s not the stock wheel no, it came with a Nexus 8 which, imo, felt a bit sluggish so I built a wheel with a singlespeed trials hub (135mm, freewheel thread one side, disc brake mount on the other) and used an iso cog to go fixed.

I don’t really think 135mm spacing and fixed make good bed fellows though. Square taper cranks might have made things a little easier but the chainline was problematic. I ended up having to make spacers to fit under the chainring. I couldn’t have used a pucker track hub with a longer axle because the chainstays were too wide to put the chainring in the right place for that.

I complied. Should be 853 matching paint job buddies this time next week. That's 2 genesi in the stable and 3 British overall, #GammonsWetBregsit

  • Hasn't been shipped yet but here you go. Build will be Shimano 6800 with TB14's. This image from a sale thread on here made me pull the trigger.

  • Nice! It’s very similar actually to my old Genesis “little spoon” prototype.
Has the Ritchey dropouts too by the looks of things

  • New CDF fork, straight steeerer?

  • I seen that last week then forgot about it, always liked that version in black with the curved fork - just fired the seller an offer in the hope they'd instruct me to gtf but they responded with bargainous mid-ground counter offer so now I have a new build to plan...

Already have some surplus Spyres which will be moved from my current singlespeed commuter (which is getting a flat-bar hydro makeover for dragging a 2 year old around on) and the X2 stem and RHM01 bars from that too - might try and cobble together a cheap 5800 group, although just had a proper look through this thread & there's some food for thought around - these look pretty tasty with some nice bits on...

One thing's for sure - it's getting some nice mudguards. Not £150 nice, but nice enough I mean.

  • Nice one, I won't ask exactly how bargainous but sounds like a nice build. Keep us updated here, or better still in it's own thread ;) Regarding 5800, for the price it's great although when I was building my CdF 2 years ago new prices weren't much off used so went that route.
