what about the aldi one for £70? currently looking for one myself, just missed a couple of cheap ones in a local auction.

I saw the aldi one, it's the same unit as sold by SGS engineering for £10 more, the benefit with the SGS one is you can upgrade to a bigger tank - I was thinking of going for a 50ltr one as i think the 24ltr tank might be too small for what i need.

Ah interesting. Yes, I do worry about the 24lt tank too. Will look at SGS, also I couldn't find out what fittings the Aldi one has, some old posts say it has non standard fittings which would suck.

This looks like a good starting kit actually https://www.sgs-engineering.com/sc50h-50-litre-high-flow-air-compressor-air-kit

I'm in Glasgow, no working vehicle at the minute though :(
He can drop here if he's willing, business address/workshop.

Yeah, I was looking at the 50ltr kit that comes with two air line hoses and a water trap from them

Where will it be kept? Those small ones are noisy.
-

Easy enough to change, but thought they were standard.
Aldi one is guaranteed for longer, three years just remember to change the oil regularly.

Yeah I’ve had a really small one before, they’re about 97db. I’ll either put it under my workbench or in the shed out the back and route a hose through.
99% of the time if I’m using something that requires the compressor on I’ve got ear defenders on anyway

There’s 2 types of fitting

Ah they were old posts, so may well have changed, think they are now Euro Quick fittings

Is the threading the same so they are interchange able?
-
• #46415
Yeah I think they’re all 1/2” BSP or something, you can normally swap the connectors relatively easily

So the 500 has returned with a new oil temp sensor and fault codes cleared...
My concern is the part that died was being put under strain because of a bigger issue. Lets see if it breaks again...

Or the sensor failed, happens.

Blew the clutch in the scooby last night while trying to hand with the turbo volvo boys ;)
Also had a little spin in an s15 and that got me wanting a silv.

Car stereo - I have the option to specify the frequency range being sent to the speakers.
When I search for what frequency range I should run the woofers at I get results for sub-woofers, which isn't very helpful.
The options I have are set by rotary dial, and the marks are at 50, 60, 80, 120, 200 and 500 Hz.
By using the accompanying switch I specify if the speakers on that channel should be above or below the frequency set.
I've got two woofers, and then four midwoofer/tweeter pairs.
Stick them all on 200 Hz and see what it sounds like?

Do you have the frequency responses for each unit ? They normally come with a graph showing spl Vs Hz on a log scale, which you can look at too see where it drops off.
If not I would start at 200 and compare it with 500 and 120

Annoyingly I have a chart for the woofers, but not the combined mid-woofer/tweeter units.

I think, from a bit more reading, that this is recommended:
Sub 0-80Hz
Woofers 80-500Hz
Mid-woofer 500-5,000Hz
Tweeters 5,000+But I don't have a sub, as it won't fit, so I'll set the filter point at 500Hz, woofers to run below, mid/tweeter units above, then take it from there.

You can't hear much below 20hz so unless you're hoping for the brownsound for weightloss properties there's not a lot of use speccing down to 0hz.

Looks like there is a bit of a drop (well actually a hump at 100hz) from 200hz to 500hz, so I would experiment with a 200hz crossover as well.
I just bought a 6l 8bar oil-free DeWalt yesterday and it's great, I'll check specs but build quality and design are superb.
