  • So if my laptop's bluetooth is 2.4ghz, and the wireless mouse is also 2.4ghz I should be able to pair without using a dongle?

  • I haven't bought it yet... and idk if it really matters.

Basically I recently discovered I have BT on my laptop, and I keep meaning to get a small mouse for it anyway, so I've gone down the typical pre-purchase amazon-wormhole and ended up at wireless mice.

I'd rather not have a USB dongle for it, as the main draw for me of a wireless mouse is not taking up a USB slot. Otherwise I may as well just blag a normal mouse from somewhere.

I'm looking at this Logitech M590 in grey as it seems like good value. But part of choosing it is based on the assumption that I can use it without the dongle.

EDIT: Just checking my laptop and it shows the bluetooth as:

    HCI Version: 2.1 (0x4) Revision: 0x534f

which I think means it's Bluetooth 2.1 - i.e. too old for any modern BT devices using Bluetooth Low Energy Technology
