• The gentleman who posted the missile clip was reported to the police by Lesniak and may get an official caution. Crazy:

  • Tried to watch this but got freaked out by the way he never blinks and closed the tab.

I like how on TripAdvisor about half the reviews for his place go along the lines of 'this would be OK but the owner is a rude aggressive wanker and we had to leave immediately once he started yelling at us'.

  • The war of attrition between those who oppose the Cycle Superhighway
and those who support it has become a police matter. Julian Pavey
posted a spoof video on Twitter of a rocket attack on the pavement
area outside Outsider Tart, in which a missile is seen blowing up a
row of mobikes. The proprietor of the cafe, David Lesniak, who is
notoriously against the cycle track reported him for committing 'hate
    crime' and posted:

'If the target of this video, which has been posted on a local public
forum, was your home, how would you respond? @tfl @theJeremyVine
    @RuthCadbury @RuthMayorcas @willnorman @SadiqKhan Seriously, it’s time
to call off the trolls #CS9 #chiswick #StopTheHate'

Conservative candidates Joanna Biddolph, Patrick Barr and Chiswick
Riverside Conservatives 'liked' his tweet. The author of the video
then tweeted that it was 'a bit of fun over mobikes and CS9', which
was 'liked' by Labour candidate Ruth Mayorcas, notoriously a supporter
of CS9, and a few others, and so it escalated.

Despite apologising, I understand that the police are talking about
cautioning Julian, which has resulted in a backlash against Redesign
CS9 and David Lesniak on the W4 chat Forum, with comments like 'shame
on you' (David) and 'That is absolutely absurd. The video showed
missiles destroying mobikes outside David's caff. This was, fairly
obviously, Julian's imagining how David would like to do to the
mobikes. How anyone could report that to the police defeats me. And
then wasting police time with this is nuts'.

But as far as the police were concerned, they seem to be leaning
towards the view that an offence was committed.

  • Wandering along the canal tomorrow with a mate from the Thames in Brentford to Greenford.
Which is the pro-cycling coffee shop we are meant to support in Brentford?

  • I'm not aware of pro (or anti) coffee shops in Brentford but Shafran in Chiswick (14A Sutton Ct Rd, W4 4NG) mentioned previously offers discounts for people coming by bike (but your route likely won't go past it)

  • Thanks for the reply,
I did see a reference to Shafran, but as it is up the top end of Sutton Court Road,
it's not that convenient for busses from Ealing.
Still having re-read this thread, I know who/which coffee shop to avoid.

  • I think the only one to be avoid is outsider tart.. well out the way on the snobwick high road.

  • You mean Outsider Fart? ;)

  • New revised CS9 plans here. I've not had a chance to look yet:

  • This looks good... does it imply that the route to that point isn't following the A4 as some of the opposition to CS9 were asking for? (A4 route is a nightmare and would render the entire scheme a waste of money as no cyclists would choose to go that way).

  • A4 gets a mention in p24 and is poo pooed. The alignment will be maintained on the high street.

  • Quite nice indeed. It's just not that clear how we engage, going East from Kew Bridge Road on the cycle track when facing eastbound traffic coming from the bridge.

I assume a traffic light for cyclists will be there?

See the bottom right corner of the image.

  • It seems that, other than the consultations on:

Kew Bridge and Kew Bridge Road to Wellesley Road
Duke Road and Duke’s Avenue’s junction with Chiswick High Road

the original CS9 plans are expected to go ahead. Construction to start this summer.

  • That’s great news. I thought though there was some concern that there wasn’t actually a budget to be able to do this?

  • TFL's budget is on shakey ground and lots of projects are liable to culling...

  • That pavement outside the orange building is shared space and directly feeds onto the cycle track.

  • You can normally tell something is good by the speed of reaching Godwin's law and the # of posts from enraged cabbies.

Used to be my daily, looks like it'll be much nicer, maybe even quicker, to get onto Wellesley road from Brentford.

  • I'm talking before you join that piece of the track.

Coming from Brentford and going east, you'll have to reach this point by crossing the lane coming down from the bridge and intending to go west.
In the other PDFs I didn't see a traffic light regulating this.

  • See, the traffic lights are explicitly stated for the ones waiting to move forward onto the track again, but not for the one I'm talking about.

  • This looks like a definite improvement at Kew bridge. Previously it was just paint on the road.
@Velocio the point of the new cycle way is to link up the town centres in the West from Hammersmith Chiswick Brentford and isleworth ..hopefully one day Hounslow and feltham.
Going down the a4 would be useless for that.

  • I'll be interested to see what they've announced our side the loudest nimbies of the Catholic church and outsider tart.

In the long run to extend it through high street ken is the goal... however that council is solid company tractor territory.

  • They are proposing to take out a car lane to keep the pavement wide. Might shift their anger..

We are also proposing to maximise pavement space outside Our Lady of
Grace and St Edward Church, in response to local concerns. This will
require the reduction of eastbound traffic lanes on Chiswick High Road
    from two to one.

  • Seems like a good idea..

  • I'm not sure exactly what route you're looking for, it's not my part of town. But as far as I can tell, from Kew bridge and heading East, the plan is to be on the pavement...
