  • A lead time of nearly 2 months for a tool roll and no response to multiple emails was my experience of Mack

  • Myself and two friends were some of his first customers I guess, I am good friends with his sister and we loved his products.

    I won’t spend hours explaining so a basic run down;

    Terrible communication.
Lead times are long, but then they extend, matched with no communication you can plan for a year ahead..
Agreeing to a project, failing to meet dates - for a bikepacking trip.
Never being man enough / finding time to deliver and getting his dad to - he is a bloody lovely chap.

It’s a shame, how products are cool and well made, but he’s impossible to deal with. I just went to naffsacks, within 3 days we have sorted a custom bag and I expect it in 2/3 weeks. I’ll update obviously, but the communication has a been quick, answers suitable and easy to deal with.

  • That's a shame and shitty. When did Mack start out? Seems like a full time job, so somebody most be satisfied.

Thanks for the naffsack heads up, didn't know about them.

  • I think Jon, aka Mack Workshop, became a victim of his own success. He makes bags is his spare time, whilst holding down a full time job during the day. He was using the crimble break to catch up, and even stopped taking on fresh orders. I had communications with him before Christmas, he got back in touch in the new year, as it happened Christmas day sorted out my new bag needs, so cancelled the order.
His products are of excellent quality, will definitely use him in the future. Hope he can get on top of his demand/supply issues, he really does deserve (imo) to make it work.

  • Think that’s a 46/36. So six extra teeth.

I’ve emailed PX but not hopeful.

  • Yeah it’s tough as it’s a second job, but you have to be fair to paying customers. He has a decent demand, but I honestly think that’s diminished somewhat. I know 4 people who will now look elsewhere, when they were very excited about it all.

I would consider buying off him, but only stock products not custom, to prove it was actually completed ...

But tbh, I’m going to look at others, as I say, new barbag will be from naffsacks, also Bristol based, and I have high hopes!

  • Surely frustrating when planning a trip and in need of bags.
Lack of communication is never good. He was very prompt with me about a year ago when I enquired.

I hope he gets his business model together and will probably be buying from him again. Really noice craftsmanship, plus can't afford the fucking swift industries stuff. (Anyone need a tall handlebar bag?)

Looking forward to your naffsack update!

  • They offer it with a 50/34 double chainring, so it must have capacity for 50.

  • Yeah, I ended up just shelling out on apidura full kit and Jon missed out on multiple hundreds of my pounds!

    Tall bar bag?

  • Swift industries hinterland bar bag in tall/large. The bikes I've got haven't got enough stack clearance.

  • Dibs.

    Photos and price?

  • Tell me more, tell me more

  • Sofa and true detective. Will get back to you tomorrow.

  • Couldn’t recommend Mack, service is appalling at best.

I honestly can't comment, I only got a couple of his stuff in the last couple years, and still use his tool bag that he modified for me since 2015.

  • Finally managed a quick spin out on the Triban

  • pretty nice.
tyres need rotating 180 degrees though...

  • Gorilla Monsoon?

  • Yeah, 2019 model. Has dropper now

  • Sweet colorway

  • Couby_wan on insta is amazing. Think Couby stitchworks is his business one. I’ve got a few of his and there always on time, well priced and he’s all round a good guy with an awesome sscx

Straight cut designs on insta look good as well thinking about getting a tool roll from them soon.

  • Yeah, 2019 model. Has dropper now

    Last one did also.

  • Not big on Radavist nonsense but this is top notch. Been after some of that patterned cloth tape for a while but it ain't cheap (like £20 + £10 shipping)

Maybe I could butcher an old rug and use that

  • Don’t think it did. Haven’t seen any
