Yep, I'd read that when I was looking for mine - I think I got one of the last ones. I submitted my serial number to the thread in case that helped work out how many there were.
A series production watch with theoretically no limit on numbers that actually only had a special-edition scale run.
My* 1948 Seamaster is likely to be produced in similar numbers, as you say.
