• You're pacing 10-20s intervals? They're sprints. Do 'em flat out and you shouldn't be able to read the power values mid-effort anyway.

  • And it wouldn't matter at all, except that SF is now using (what it thinks is) my 5s max to set the intensity in some of the workouts.

  • HTFU.

    You’re welcome.

  • My Garmin Vector 3 lasted 3 days.

    Going back for a replacement.

  • Heard the same story from others.

I can’t wait for someone to make a reliable pedal based PM but it seems way off.

  • Touch wood, I’ve had no problems with mine. There is an issue with that battery holder that seems sorted but other than that, they have been flawless.

What issue did you have @Señor_Bear?

  • IQ2? :D

  • Something inside the right pedal is loose and rattles. It causes power spikes and drop offs.

  • Anyone know if the vectors 3's are likely to have the adjustment become available so you can use them with spd-sl? I'm sure I read older versions had this...?

They look good but don't want to change to Look cleats

  • Did these ever make it to market?

  • “Next month”. Repeat.

  • Favero Assioma Duo?
    Powertap P1?

  • Everyone I know with P1s has had to send them back repeatedly to have knackered bearings fixed.

I don’t know anyone who has used Faveros tbh.

  • My Vectors have been fine, the only niggle is when the batteries are low but not low enough to trigger a warning on my head unit, they take a while to calibrate. But taking a battering through winter riding with no water ingress issues of old.

  • Clue's in the name

    Garmin

  • What are the Powertap pedals like?

  • Do they use shit bearings or is it a problem with the tolerances or something?

  • I know two people who’ve sent them back several times to have the bearings replaced.

All seemed to have developed play and had dropouts. No idea if it’s been sorted.

Crank-based PMs just seem far less troublesome. I got both my Power Boxes for a total of about £900 and they haven’t missed a beat.

  • Seems to be some sort of known fault, Garmin have told Sigma to swap them for another set so they've gone back.

The left pedal was working very nicely - inline with my Tacx Flux. If the new ones both work like that, then all good.

  • I need to replace the wheels on my road bike. I'm not racing, nor do I have any requirement for any fancy wheels. It's just a training bike, and being treated as little more than turbo training outdoors. It'd be nice to be able to compare data from indoors & outdoors, and I have a wheel on turbo trainer that I'm unlikely to replace with direct drive anytime soon.

Any compelling reasons not to just get a Powertap G3 for just over £300?

  • There's a G3 internals / PRO shell on ebay at the moment. I pulled the guy up for listing a G3 that wasn't actually a G3 but it has the G3 internals so I put a bid on. I'll leave it for you if you want something cheap.

  • Cheers. I'll grab a shiny new one though :-)

Evans even have a matching front for £20
