  • I've UTFS'd and not finding much (which is surprising, which probably suggests I've not UTFS very well) - what is the conventional wisdom re converting a road frame to disc brakes? I've got a genesis equilibrium that fits me perfectly and I have no desire to upgrade (plus we've been a long way together)....beyond the fact that the braking is not ideal and I didn't particularly enjoy descending in the Pyrenees last year because when loaded (bike packing) - it was a real effort to slow down/keep speed off. Going to the Alps this year, and would like to try discs. Does anyone have a rough estimate re price to add necessary bracing/tabs to a steel frame? Happy to have the bike stripped and repainted in the process, as it deserves a bit of a refresh. I appreciate I'd also then need to get new wheels/groupset/fork, so I'd be looking for good ebay deals to strip. I'd move the genesis fork, wheels and groupset over to my winter bike... trying to work out whether it's worth converting my genesis or just looking for a good deal on a 2nd hand disc bike...?

  • Yep, I'm aware this is an option, thanks, just wondered if people had any experiences having done the same or looked into themselves...
