Can anyone tell me what shifter I need to run flat bars with rival mech? Or too much grief and just buy a mtb shifter and rear mech?

It is soooo true and it makes SRAM 10sp so versatile and lovely.

Any shifter that I can use on a flat bar bike with a 5700 rear deraileur?
And also which brake levers to run Avid bb7 road callers ?

8 and 9 speed mtb* and 10 speed road (as long it's not 4700)
*newer mtb 10 speed shifter have a different pull.
And also which brake levers to run Avid bb7 road callers ?
Flat bar road brake levers and v brake levers that have cable pull adjuster (like the Avid Speed Dial lever).

What condition are your BB7s in? Have some tatty BB7 mountains that I could do with swapping for road.

Set up right, mountain bb7s with road levers are THE best.

I've got them working, and I'm sure the power will be immense, but the tolerance required is too fine for a touring/commuting bike imo. Certainly one that I'm not riding myself and constantly adjusting/maintaining

Makes sense if it's not for yourself.
I'vet got them on my own commuter and I have to turn the dial every 2 or 3 weeks.

Great thanks, wasn’t clear from what I’d read

Make sure it has exact actuation, not X actuation. 10 speed comes in both.

Swapped back wheel with my girlfriend, straightened out the rack and put some clement mud tyres on. Riding XC trails is fun (Nova in Bristol) but it’s a little too muddy at the moment with the tight mudguards.

I have some nice condition road BB5s I just bought. They will go on a mountain bike though so MTB pull would save me lever hunt hassle. I don't know what the price/performance differential is between BB5s and BB7s but happy to trade if you are

There's a grand canyon of faff between BB5 and BB7 because of the non fixed pad, unfortunately. I think some other bits might be a bit worse, can't remember

No worries, adjustable travel levers is the sort of nonsense I like to buy anyway so I'll hunt some down.

I have just received my Wald 139 basket, can I mount it to the mid fork bosses or only to QR axle of the wheel?
I don't have pizza rack, want to mount using the Wald generic mount that is supplied with basket.
@timmah! 's awesome commuter:
