  • Not sure I agree with much of that - at 68 I usually get to the gym 3 times a week for 1 hr weights sessions in order to maintain muscle tone and bone density. I don't do massive weight but 2kg....lightweights!

Don't see why we need a high protein diet either - balanced is best...

  • We need pictures!

  • Blimey. I hadn't been aware that there was a thread for the ancient and incontinent.

    Still alive.

  • Where's you been? I was worried! 😀

  • Out looking for a supplier of Wether’s Originals.

  • You could try self-identifying as 20 years younger like that Dutch geezer who said that it would enhance his chances on Tinder

  • I've just ordered a bike for my father - he's 71, and can still manage to get hos leg over the cross bar.

Pinnacle Lithium Alfine 8 incoming. He borrowed my Cross Check Rohloff conversion and liked it, but maybe not the price.

  • double post

  • The contributors to this thread may selfidentify as aged/mature,
    but,
it does not mean you have repeat everything to them.

  • I've missed 3 weeks of riding. Chest infection, work, can't be arsedness. Blimey. Talk about use it or lose it. After today's comeback ride it's 7.30pm and I'm seriously considering going to bed. I've been here before and know I can find my mojo again but it's a bit scary to think of the consequences of a longer lay off.

  • Anyway I can't go to bed now...double Coronation Street tonight.

  • I've got more bikes than I've ever owned and I do less miles than I've ever rode.

I need less bikes and more miles.

I'd get more space in my shed and less stress in my waistband.

    Just saying'....

  • It'll be a few years before I can officially join this thread, but thought I should give my father some credit. He's 88 and has a severe visual impairment (registered blind), but bought himself a scooter last year to go to the shops each day to try to keep fit. That's all.

  • Totally agree with the sentiments of those first two lines....luckily the third has still to catch me...

  • Yes! that's the spirit for sure....

  • A quiet thread this.perhaps it reflects the pace of life over 60. Surely not! Because for the last few sunny weeks I've ridden my weary arse off in Gloucestershire and could be as fit as I've been since pre 50. I'm picking off the hills around Cheltenham and Gloucester and stretching out over the commons and woodlands. This is THE year for cycling if ever there was one. I ran maybe the first (not sure I'm new here) pop up Bike Check Point here last week, made it onto local BBC Radio and had a queue all day of mum's, dad's, kids wanting tyres blown up and clicky gears tuned. Life is good.....

  • Nice post; good to hear from you.

  • Totally agree. I'm out everyday exploring North Kent in and around the Isle of Sheppey. At Lower Halstow Old Brickworks Dock yesterday.
BTW I'm 70 now, should I start another thread?

That's a nice thing to do. Must have been exhausting!

  • Hi Oliver, no, I have a place on the Isle of Sheppey where I was born and grew up (kept the house on after my dad died and been gradually getting it back into order). Thought it better to lockdown here to look after the garden and vegetable plots - just wish it would rain! All the best.
