  • After a successful maiden credit card touring trip with Madame Jambon last year we're already thinking about the summer. Currently set on getting the Caledonian Sleeper to Glasgow, riding to the west coast then riding from Campbeltown to Inverness along NCR78 (250 miles total) over 7 days, then sleeper train home.

It's slightly more miles than our Welsh adventure last year but with less climbing so feels ideal. Anything to be aware of doing this in the summer other than the midges?

  • If you want to add an extra little loop, consider going to Fort William via Mull from Oban. It adds about 2 hours vs NCR78, and some climbing. You can get the ferry from Oban to Craignure, then the ferry from Fishnish to Lochaline, and up other side of Loch Linnhe. It's paved single track roads, and it's really beautiful - hardly any other vehicles.

The Garrison West pub in Fort William is the best in town.

  • Much appreciated for this nugget, will pitch the idea but worst case sounds a great an excuse for a separate trip. Will definitely check out the Garrison West, cheers.

  • Do you have the GPX for this route ? Looks awesome
