Does anyone know of a free iPhone app that can record phonecalls?

So I have a frame I'll be using fixed though it was made for gears, which means I'm left with the brazed-on (so, non-removable) front derailleur mount sticking out from the seat tube. It's got pretty sharp corners, so I'd like to put something on it to protect my leg - be it in a crash or whatever else might happen, just not a fan of sharp stuff sticking out!
Anyone got a good idea for a simple rubber 'cap' I could put on? I was thinking of fashioning something simple out of an old inner tube which would be fastened by a small bolt on the mount. Or are there other good ways of doing it / something else that lends itself to being used for this?

Heat shrink tube?

File the corners?

Ooh that's a good idea! I've never used it before, but that should work quite well actually. Thanks! Any specific recommendations or should I just buy anything that says 'heat shrink tube' on Amazon?
Well ideally I'd like to avoid doing anything that can't be reversed, or that will impact the finish. If I knew I wanted to go fixed forever on that frame I'd just remove the mount entirely, but I'm pretty sure I'll be putting some gears on it in the future, so I'd like to keep the mount itself as it is.

Make sure its roughly the right size, as you'll be at the upper end of what's available on Amazon. If you measure the height and thickness of the mount you should be able to calculate it. I think the diameter should be bigger than (2*height+2*thickness) / 3.14. My guess is it's about 3cm high and half a cm thick, in that case you'd need a diameter of at least 22mm.

Thanks, I've been looking on Ebay as well, luckily there seems to be enough variety in diameter :)
I'm also thinking of using a bit of inner tube to put some extra protection on the corners underneath before finishing it off with the heat shrink tube, which would increase the diameter some more - I'm sure I'll find something that suits. Thanks again for the suggestion, it hadn't occurred to me at all.

Sugru. Ideal for the job.

Another good suggestion, thanks!

If you go down the heat shrink route, use adhesive-lined so that the ends are sealed, otherwise you run the risk of creating a water trap and your hanger will be rusty when you peel the cover off to revert to gears

Yeah I was thinking of ways to seal the ends as well! Thanks for the suggestion.

Can bmx U brakes be used to replace old mtb U brakes?

Yes.

Obviously just ignore it, as it'll never be a problem, but otherwise I'd say sugru too.

I stripped the threads on the hub of my Pompino, I bought it second hand but it looks like a Planet X build so whatever hubs they used for their Weinmann DP18 wheelset.
What does the hive-mind think of these as a replacement, similar quality?
They're certainly cheap.https://www.planetx.co.uk/i/q/WPGIPIFI/gipiemme-pista-fixed-700c-clincher-wheelset

I noticed that you can get mini torches with magnets on them - I'd seem this with bigger work torches, but not little pocket ones.
Do you think you could just glue a strong mini neodymium magnet to part of an existing one with epoxy? Any other considerations folk can think of?
Cheers.

I'm visiting my mother in Salisbury Hospital tomorrow. I might combine it with the sights. Anything of particular interest I should see in the city?

If you are into history the old hill fort at old Sarum and perhaps within it the more modern Norman castle remains.

I heard from good russian sources the cathedral is a sight to behold..

The world famous cathedral with its 123m spire, and the clock dating from about AD 1386 is supposedly the oldest working modern clock in the world. I think it's only fair to warn you that since the snow last week there could be as much as 5mm of slush on some pavements, which might drive you back.
That is what I thought ; I guess I will try to disassemble the cones on each side to try re-centering the axle if it is what has to be done
EDIT: thanks for the confirmation!
