As Will says, you don't have to ask for permission to tag. As long as you upload pictures of the old and new tags first, the tag is yours. Beware: There are various ways of getting 'tagzumped', meaning that someone else uploads both old and new tag before you do, even if you've also bagged the old tag and picked a new one, and even if you've uploaded one of your pictures but not the other. Also have a look at the Tag Map (links on the first page of the thread) before you pick a new tag, as quite a lot of stuff has already been done. Good luck!
