What steel cx bike?

I’m after a steel cx frame to replace my lemond poprad as the powder coaters blasted it full of holes.
It needs to be rim brake and decent quality tubing
I’ve looked at Ritchey Swiss cross, I.F Planet X but not many of these about secondhand.
Anyone got any ideas?

Have you thought about a custom frame build? Get exactly what you want?

I made a frame with Swallow Bikes People (Bicycle by Design i believe), didn't work out much more than a similar quality frame, and its exactly how you want it size / geo / features wise.

I did but it’s just out of my budget.
I’m considering getting the seattube replaced on my poprad but it’s a huge job so probably not worth it

Intec F10 Canti would be a budget option and probably a bit heavy, but certainly bombproof.

And a brother Kepler (more of a tourer perhaps that one)

TBH, who still makes 'performance' steel canti CX bikes? It's a proper niche market.

I have the Kepler on my watch list.
I know discs have taken over but I’ve got all the rim brake groupset and I’ve found the performance of cable discs to be really poor. I’m after a secondhand one so it doesn’t need to be a currently made bike. My poprad is 18 years old and that was perfect

I used to run a pompino and although it was a fun bike it’s not anywhere as good as a 853 frame. Maybe I should look at alloy as thee is loads more about

You're right though, when you can get a giant tcx for under 1k, the market for steel is a niche within a niche.

I see the odd old steel frame at races.

Yeah well I guess any framebuilder will build you a bike to spec if you ask them.
