It does look a bit weird, also the way it perfectly fits on the part where the bars get thinner. Is it equally thin on all sides, no way of 'attacking' it anywhere? Considering the bars aren't new and scratch-free anyway, maybe take a very thin sharp pointed blade and see if there's any way of lifting it? That'd be what I'd try, anyway, but I'm also usually a bit ruthless when it comes to these things...

Will an Ultegra 10 speed cassette work with Centaur 10 speed?

Tbh as I'm likely to sell, or even if not, will be covered with bar tape I don't think it's worth the time/risk/hassle -it was more a curiosity as to why - if it is tape - someone would've done that

I wouldn't ride bars that had some unexplained weirdness to the finish.
Are they crabon? Is it a repair?
-
• #95357
Yes and I can't be sure; came on a bike from seemingly genuine seller and no sign or feel of any damage/repair (if that counts for anything). Maybe I'll see if I can lift the (potential) sheet/tape.

there are a few 3T bars with a combination matt/gloss finish - is it not something like that?

i don't know!
what model are they? -

@Howard @SwissChap.
Mystery over; the main purpose to check there had/hadn't been a repair!!!! Purely aesthetics; I've scrapped off the tape and it's clear the previous owner obviously didn't like the red showing and was just covering it!

Hah yeah some 3T stuff is aesthetically challenging.

Good forum price? 3T (Ergonova I think) Team 44cm carbon - £37.95 posted? Will leave the other side as someone may not want the red, if so only need cover a cpl inches bar tape will do the rest) of the scraped back side.
Edit: scraped other side just in case...same outcome although can confirm they are Ergonova!
Cheers

Haha - I know Hindsight is a wonderful thing BUT necessity of knowing 100% there was no repair was overriding.

Does anyone have a Park head tube reaming tool? If so, what is the internal diameter of the cutters? I've got a cheapo Icetoolz reaming tool, and I'd like to know if Park cutters will work with it.

In my head I have a vaguely remembered "fact" about Prince. And the yellow BMW in his Sexy MF video.
Before this point in time yellow paints had too much lead to be able to be used. This video marks the point when lead in yellow paint was low enough to be used/non existent. Is that bollocks?
-

Is that bollocks?
Yes. Lead chromate is still used in automotive paints in the EU and US. It was supposedly banned in the EU as part of REACH in 2015 but there were (and I think are still) exemptions in place. Golf - bright yellow - was in the BMW colour charts on and off throughout the 70s and 80s. So I'm calling that one out as bollocks.

I think Lead Chromate is probably still the pigment of choice for use in thermoplastic road marking materials in the UK.

Hmm....
I tend towards calling it bollocks, but if I've remembered it I've remembered someone telling me... -

Ribbon on cock.
£1 please.
I think you could be right - must be incredibly thin - couldn't peel it off even if I wanted too
