Ah, a timely thread, as I'm planning to do PBP in 2083.

Doing the Galashiels 600 this weekend for my pre-qualifier.

Just a heads up that the cheap Ibis hotels next to the start are beginning to fill up. You can book now on a fully flexible rate which allows for free cancellation right up to your arrival. I just booked mine, but there appear to be no rooms left in the Budget for August 22nd already!

First year doing it next year. Is it good idea to get hotel for a night before and night after?

Well, there's an obligatory bike check the day before you ride, so you'll need to stay at least one night somewhere.

So apparently the organisers have changed the start town of PBP...

Pre-registration opens on Sunday night at 11pm (I think) for riders with a 600 BRM from last season. I'll be entering, going for one of the 90 hour slots.

Do you know how much it will cost?

The pre-registration fee is €30. When you register fully after completing the SR rides, you then pay the rest of the fee which is between €120-150, see article 6 here: http://www.paris-brest-paris.org/index2.php?lang=en&cat=randonnee&page=reglement

I've entered with 90 hour 18:30 start with a few others from ACH. Really need to pull my finger out and work out accomodation and getting there the new start makes it a bit more of a pain tbh

Yeah also need to sort this. Had booked a hotel in the old start town ages ago last year so need to work out what to do now...

I also have hotels booked near the original start place. I'm just gonna keep it as it is, cos everywhere seems booked up already, and there's an easy train to Rambouillet if you don't wanna cycle there.

It is about 25km away, so probably best just cycling over. The new location is fully booked it seems.

Do you know if bikes are allowed on this train?

Amusingly, one of my qualifiers is the Pendle so it's a big IF I manage to finish that, as I don't know any other 600s with space around that time.

I did the Pendle as my qualifier in '15. It's a tough ride, but a really good set up for PBP.

There's the Glasgow 600 2 weeks after Pendle. Another Andy Corless event. But a rare 'flat' one.

That's actually a good shout - may enter that as insurance.

Quite a few 600s up in Scotland too.

North Coast Classic will not be easy, but will be an amazing route.

Boarderland 600 from Galashiels (South of Edinburgh) is pretty straightforward and not too hilly yet nice and scenic.
