  • Might be interested ... pm with any info if you decide to sell!

  • I'll get some photos over, used sparingly, upgraded the stock tyres for London's roads.

  • Cool, I'm worried 50cm might be a wee bit big for me ... I usually ride an xs, but keen to see if it could work

  • I've been riding this borrowed Longitude for a few snowy days now, I'd change a few minor details if it was mine but damn this is a nice winter bike!

  • Is this easy to do? I'm thinking of getting an SS day one and converting it ...

Suppose I'd need a new rear wheel, but just a regular rear mech is enough?

  • You need a mech hanger. You could get a frame builder to braze in a surly style rear facing dropout with hanger, I used a chain tug dropout adapter. Had to modify it a bit but it works fine. Bit of a faff taking the back wheel off, dreading getting a puncture and being in a hurry.

135 spaced so geared rear wheel cheap and easily available.

  • I successfully ran my 2011 Day One 10spd, used a problem solver hanger (not the chain tug one, universal from memory) and Shimano 105 rear derailleur, just had to adjust the stop limits as the hanger sits outside the dropouts, ran perfectly the whole time I had it.

  • That's the one.

  • Great way to get a chainring cover! Thanks!

  • Yeah and the Brompton cranks (not what I have) are actually quite well made as well, good value if you buy chainset. For me square taper bb is the winner for commuting. Not dropped the chain yet either, not even using a clutch mech.

  • Thinking of getting cdf 853 frameset. Mostly because I’m not a big fan of the cdf 30 otp build, but would like flat mount & through axles. Stop me now if it’s stupid... I know it’s gonna end up pretty expensive. But can’t really think of a better alternative to build on. If not the 725 frame set.
Not sure how to value the 100grams, flat mount and through axles upgrade.

    What’s your thoughts?

  • Love my CDF, think it’s the 2015 30 , 105 hydro and clearances for 42. Such a versatile bike have toured, done rough cross rides, fast (for me) road rides, commutes etc etc.

Great bike all round. An 853 CDF with through axles sounds like an awesome idea.

  • Great to hear. Will go see lbs to get this thing rolling :-)

  • Also, really like your cdf!

  • the thing that drives me nuts about the stock CdF is the hydro shimano levers ... ick.

I was thinking of cyclescheming this but the levers ... they literally look like penises

    how do people cope?

i want 105 but don't care for hydro

  • Really enjoying my hydro brakes on my omnium but I hear you. Thinking of getting by/rd for this very petty reason...

  • I have to admit, I'm quite lucky that my Croix de Fer is the Decade edition, which seems to be the only version which has ever come with SRAM, for which the hydro hoods look fine in my opinion.

  • Yeah it's ridiculous ... cause I'm thinking of getting an extra set of levers and non-hydro brakes and then selling off the hydro stuff.

  • how do people cope?

they don't, shimano has fucked that design up, people just compensate in reach with shorter stem and/or shorter reach bars

  • is the reach better for the new 105 levers?

I'm thinking of swapping to non-hydro if I decide to press buy on this

really i just want everything to be 6800 4eva

  • is the reach better for the new 105 levers?

no, the only thing shimano has improved reach on is Di2 Hydro, they are actually smaller than the mechanical Di2 this time, absolutely amazing.

  • Get Di2

  • Mine came with RS685 levers - really like the shape, better than Sram and all... and they’re still available/can be had cheap on eBay . Buy and swap?
