Epic fail for me: I’m working on a project alongside an editor. We had annoying changes from the client, had a bit of a moan over email on the email chain (but not copying in client obvs). I then email the client on the chain, thinking I’d replied further up the chain, when in fact I’ve included all of our moaning in the reply text below my email.

The worst thing is that my comments aren’t bad at all - it’s mainly my colleague :-/

Jesus, the first rule of bitching about clients is to do it in a non-shareable medium. That’s the whole point of instant messaging.

I know, right? I'm usually pretty meticulous about this sort of thing and at least do a separate email chain. The one time I don't and I fuck it.

Another set of precautions is to moan cryptically, at a previous workplace wanker was always replaced with stroker.
Actually, not that fail proof come to think of it.

I worked for a major insurer and about 8 people got sacked for using instant messenger for dope deals. They used code words, the knobbers.

Use gmail with the 30 second cancel email-function

Saved me heaps of times

Just call them a cunt to their face.

Then write an email so they don't forget it.
