Given the photos, I'd say it's pretty clear who was in the wrong there, no matter how mindlessly aggressive the shiny-suited insurance gimp is trying to be.

After 7 pages of astonishing fab work I get to this little snippet
I haven't posted it yet but I wrote the ecu program that's running the
engine so there's an awful lot of new and untested going on all at
once..... -

Reminds me of the Carl Sagan quote:
"If you want to make apple pie from scratch, first you must invent the universe"
Wonder when we get to the bit where he starts fabbing his own ICs and smelting ore :)

I expect some peeps offered big money for that...

good news! I fit in the Morgan racer with a new steering wheel and the seat squab(?!) taken out...

Yep thats the place.

Er, this is probably not the place to ask or have i any reason to expect but I wondered if anyone in Camberwell could help give me a bump start this weekend. The car I think has a fuel supply problem, it has been moody starting. I changed the filter it turns over, I reckon it would go with a push/pull then I could drive to a garage

That's gloriously insane. Reminds me of this thread I used to follow where a 1 armed guy with spinal damage was building a track based 10k revving k20 ek9. Some of the fabrication was utterly bewildering.

Sunny winter day, top down, heated seats on, woolly hats and shades, country pub lunch. Loving the Z4!

Think about that. EDIT by that I mean how much easier/cheaper computers have got, increased shared knowledge etc would his systems have to meet emissions and fuel economy.
I didn't get pasted the X1\9 pics.

If it's a fuel supply issue bumping it won't start it. What car? Can you unplug the fuel line from the rail and see if the pump is running?
-
• #46220
Blasphemy.
-
• #46221
Hmm, no I can’t do that. Changing the filter was easy and what you suggest sound way too involved. I am pumping the little balloon thingy like crazy and it refusess to go hard-lol. Anyway thank you very much for you suggestion. I think I need to take a big breath and get it towed if it won’t bump. I thought that bump starting it was what got it going last time it wouldn’t start. Except that time I had conveniently park at the top of a little hill. It’s a scenic mk2 dci.

does DCI mean diesel?
If so, Did you pre-fill the new filter with diesel before you fitted it?
if not it's probably air in the system, you have to crank them a lot to bleed the air back out
-
• #46223
yeah i did put fuel in as recommended but there was also plenty of room for air too. does cranking mean turning the ignition or manually turning engine over or either or neither?
-
• #46224
Bleed the diesel system. Don't keep trying to start the car as you can damage the fuel pump.
How technical are you?
-
• #46225
Never a good idea to crank diesels for ages, pumps are lubed by the fuel. Hence best to bleed the air out of the system.
With plenty of talk of people liking wagons/estate cars here, if anyone is in the market for one, my dad has just got a really tidy 2005 V70R wagon in for sale for sub £7k. If anyone wants any details let me know.
