  • Spot the amateur in a seat.....

  • I'm currently admiring my pancake-flat tubeless rear wheel. Brilliant

  • I have a load of gorilla tape if you get stuck tomorrow/the weekend

  • LFGSS drinks in the bar tomorrow night then?

I’m also bringing the finest of Perthshire ciders, which all LUFGUSSers are welcome to n’all

  • Just stick a tube in it

  • Lfgss we ready

  • I'm on team 506: "Team Jorts". We're just about to start! I'll try to post some updates in here

Not found @Colm89 or @Ecobeard yet - I'm gonna pop down to your camp (based on the above picture) in a bit and see if I can spot you. Currently wearing black jeans, orange trail shoes, a green ski jacket, grey hat, big beard. May be wearing jorts on my first lap

  • Also Mark Beaumont is here! He's gonna be putting in some fast laps I reckon

  • Good luck all!

  • Good luck, LFGSS puffers!

  • He once asked me to let him beat me in a race. “For the crowd”

Seriously took a dislike to him immediately.

  • My lap took 1:02. Caned it uphill but ultra slow coming down. Took two falls when I skidded out on my front wheel twice. Dead icy. #dontlean

My next lap is in an hour. We're some way behind our completely speculative 1 lap/hr target but that doesn't matter. Dark now, lights are coming out

After my lap we're going to switch to two laps per person giving us all a nice 6 hr rest each.

Edit: also, bodger's nightmare - my zipties are snapping in the cold. It's only -2°

  • Okay, I said "dead icy" before - that was nothing. I fell off about 10 times that lap because I could barely brake and barely corner. Running about 20-25 psi lol, terrified that my bodgy tubeless setup is going to fail leaving me stranded up there. Many of my falls were cleat problems where I skidded out and couldn't unclip in time to right myself. Flats are a much better idea for this sort of thing

Also my derailleur is frozen or full of dirt or something. I can only shift into easier gears unless I hop off and manually push it into harder gear. Basically 34/42 singlespeed, I'm pedalling like a maniac at 130RPM

Team mates are doing okay but having issues with lights failing and also with gears. Not sure what the problem is though as I went off on my lap before they sorted anything

  • Are you guize all upside down in an icy, frozen ditch yet?

^ ah just read the above. I guess you are.

  • lights failing

Possibly the freezing temperatures whacking the batteries.

  • Innertubes and bubblewrap what you can

  • Yeah we don't know. Charging it up now and sharing lights for a bit. I'm going for a kip, my next shift is going to be 2:30 - 5:00. Drew the short straw...

@Colm89 and @Ecobeard are going strong at 5 laps each. Suspect they'll finish lap no. 11 in the next few mins. Don't think either of them have any internet

I think both of our teams will move up the rankings overnight as only the nutters will be out riding at 4.00 (not the incredibly fast school kids). We'll see in the morning I guess...

    Only half way through lol

  • I can confirm we are still alive and still going, albeit at our own slow and steady pace. @Ecobeard has switched to ice spikers and is lamenting the fact that its like riding in normal conditions. I'm still on xc tyres.

Slowing down a bit now, grabbing 30 minute kips between efforts from now on.

  • Good going! You're nutters. I'm wrecked after my fifth lap, no idea how you're still going.

I did 3 in a row from 3:20 - 7:00ish. We lost 20 minutes when everyone was asleep at 2:50 and my teammate arrived. So I had to get dressed and check my tyre pressures and stuff before I could set off. Other lads now have 3:45 to do three laps so we can hit 20 total or 5 each.

I'm going to pass out now, as soon as I've drank my hot squash. I'm totally ruined

  • Good efforts you silly, silly people.

  • Sounds tuff , good luck to everyone .
