• We are looking at having a home cinema/listening room.

Went to Sevenoaks hifi with my wife to audition speakers and av amps last weekend. Prior to the visit she was unsure of what difference components could make. However Monitor Audio silver and B&W speakers did not get seal of approval, however Kef R5 did. Yamaha processors did not pass muster but the Nad 777 v3 has been given the thumbs up. The Nad also has a great streaming processor and can then be used to fee music to other rooms in the house using my old AV receiver.

Will use my old Mordaunt Short floorstanders as rear speakers. The Mordant Short centre speaker is probably to poor to bother using given how nice the R5s are. My old BK Electronics sub woofer will be used too.

Plastering in that room commences in a few weeks so just need to install cables for Atmos set up and long term can add in overhead speakers, centre speaker etc.

Lesson learned is that going shopping with my partner is a dangerous thing. But we will have a system with strong components and a clear upgrade path.
