I'm setting up an older TT frame as a fixed bike. I'm not planning on racing on it right now, but I would like to experiment a bit with a proper TT position and see how I like that. To that end, I'm looking into appropriate saddles. I noticed with road saddles that I prefer a flat, wider saddle (so something like a wide Arione). Does anyone have any experience with what could be a good fit as a corresponding TT saddle, i.e. more optimised for the 'forward' position? Am I just looking for something wider as well, or is there a different principle at work there?

(I'm also open to buying a used one here if someone has something that could fit lying around)

There's not really any way of telling. Try your current saddle, it might work for you. If not, you'll have to work your way through all the brands of stubb nosed TT/Tri saddles to find one that works (or is at least tolerable).

Thanks. Hmm, dammit, I was hoping there could be at least some kind of principle underlying this :( But yeah, I'll start off from a saddle that I know works on the road, and see how that goes.

Ah, I've probably misremembered the limit; it may be 35kg. I know it's significantly less than the weight of the average adult - the makers of my bakfiets explicitly said something like 'we're not allowed to tell you you could carry a 6'5" Dutchman on this rear rack (nod nod, wink wink)'.

What want to do is put the network drive letter somewhere and then put the file extensions I'm after and then get my answer. But right now, I'm not sure where to begin and it's not supposed to be a big learning task to do this.

That's why I went with r first, and file.list works. Then when I do file.info using something I found on overflow, it shat the bed when the names got too long.

My FM radio is being well weird today. Anyone else? It's fading in and out, volume-wise. Doesn't seem to be a tuning problem. Is affecting BBC and commercial stations equally. Tuner is part of amp. Other input channels seem fine.

I've not used them before although I did consider buying some wheels from them in the past. I feel that having an actual brick-and-mortar shop helps a lot in terms of legitimacy.

Its also pretty prime MAMIL territory so I wouldn't be too surprised at high end kit being got rid of because its not aero enough this years colours

My brother in law has just been deported from the USA for arriving with a lapsed ESTA (apparently, hard to get details). The Spanish embassy in the US gave us a departure time and an airline and said he's already on his way back but... the only corresponding flight is to a country that isn't Spain, even though he's a Spanish citizen and arrived from Spain. Is that even possible?

Many years ago, a friend of mine was deported from the USA for not having the right visa. He's German and was put on the first flight back to Europe. I think from memory he landed in Amsterdam. Which was a considerable distance from Munich where he originally took off from.

Oh that does make sense (in as much as US border control ever makes sense), thanks. He actually lived for years in the city he's being taken to so if he's just ditched there will have some friends to offer him a couch if he needs it and I can tell the family who are freaking out.

My OnGuard PitBull U-lock tends to freeze up, last winter I've been spotted giving it mouth-to-keyhole various times to thaw it so it could be unlocked again. It didn't happen enough for me to take the time to look into it, and then spring came around and I forgot all about it. But as temperatures are starting to dip under zero I think it's time to do something about it.

I'm quite sure I've read on here that WD-40 is a no-go around locks, and vaguely recall there's some powder for it? Or could I just spray some penetrating oil in the cylinder?

Graphite powder is good, although that's as a lubricant, not sure if it stops things freezing

I've seen a locksmith use WD40 to free up a stuck mortice lock mechanism.
How about carrying a lighter to heat up the key?

That's it, graphite powder. Googling it suggests it should also help against locks freezing up, maybe because if the mechanism is filled with lubricant no water can come in so there's nothing to freeze and seize?

I think it has more to do with not wetting the metal surfaces. If the ice can only stick to a graphite layer attached to the metal, it only take a small shear load to free the mechanism because the graphite itself shears very easily, even more so when there are water molecules adsorbed onto the surface of the graphite.

I bought my bike from them. Someone had part exchanged it with them, generally nice and easy to deal with. Set up wheels tubeless but only one of them held. I would buy from them again
