• ^ Thanks, both. Not a bad idea - I know Yamaha do some with streaming stuff built in. How would that be managed with the Genelecs, though? Chromecast on its way out I gather... And could a CD player be hooked up to something like this?

  • The Genelecs are decent entry level studio monitors, there are loads around 2nd hand for reasonable money. They need XLR connections and IEC power connectors, there is little to no modern streaming orientated stuff.

    Libratone might be worth looking at. With children around and the room layout you are probably not going to get away with a proper hifi setup that can survive anyway.

    I have 5 libratone in the house for general use and it's not terrible. You can move them into the garden in the summer on battery power and have a stereo pair outside.

    Of course apple home pods etc. are similar.
