i took the technics sl10 to the man last night. should be fixable.
I also got a listen to his kit. he is a bit of a B&O fan and also has some fairly esoteric kit.
totally blown away by some beovox ms150 speakers. absolutely heroic. some of the best imaging I have ever heard. I am sold on time and phase aligned speakers.
he also played some little Philips 'motion feedback' speakers, which are active and monitor the movement of the speaker cones in real time and compensate for it ( a bit like active suspension in a car, but from 1974. they looked rubbish and would get sneered at on the hifi internet, but these things were stunning. so sharp and fast, but without losing any of the big, lush sound you get from big cones and boxes.
I am going to buy a pair of these. look at the little piggies.

Could you move them to the short wall of the room?
There is no short wall, it's knocked through. Only the bay window.
In short (!), no.

Could you put those speakers (or floorstanders!!) either side of the fireplace?
Maybe, but then they would kinda hide the tele. No-no from other family members methinks.
I have had another look at this and it might be possible. I may fiddle it around later.
One of the advantages of my two system setup is that the TV and sound bar can be outside the stereo speaker span. Time to make use of this perhaps.

Could you put Henry away?
It's a toy Henry. My son's.
But yes, a general child-detritus tidy up is overdue.

Wow, loads of good stuff on there.
Bookmarked.

Yup - this is a large part of why I am so keen on single fullrange drivers - no crossover introducing phase issues and a single point source.

I just thought the same thing - tempted by an audiolab m-dac!
Anyone know how well that would work as a preamp or if I'm better off sticking to my previous plan of getting the Yamaha wxc50?

Ah!
And I've just received and opened the box of the one I ordered.

The set up at my house looks very similar, TV tucked away in the corner and the speakers either side of the fireplace, so far they haven't got too hot from it either.
My floorstanders actually look better than the previous book shelf speakers I had on stands.

Well that was easy.

We use our speakers for tv watching and when combined with the set gives a nice blend of sound. Could you put the TV on wheels so as to move it to the center when good sound is required?

This is good.
Very good.
Very very good.Happy.

No need. I have two systems. The TV sound is a Sonos beam plus two Sonos 1 surrounds.
Sorted. Absolutely sorted.

I am very much trying to ignore the pair of Cyrus Mono X power amps, in silver, for £695, on that Coherent Systems page up there.
Always nice to know what the upgrade path is.

Looks much nicer.
Does it sound much nicer? -

Right, must try harder to keep up.

There we go! That looks fantastic!

Now with added pics of some of the bits. Think its a mid cab, a sub and a horn. Am probably wrong as I don't know what big is which. It is heavy and at least two mwb transit loads @ChainBreaker

A subtle stack there!
I reckon I could get away with it in my studio room but you probably need someone with an actual cinema. -

Looks much nicer.
Does it sound much nicer?
Yep and yep. I'm stoked.

The 4648 and horns are not that big - smaller than a lot of backloaded horn hifi speakers and relatively shallow.
