• So the 500 twin air went in under warranty coughing and spluttering yesterday.

    Took them all day to work out that an oil temp sensor was faulty.

    I was intrigued as to how that would affect the idle from cold start but apparently because the valves are hydraulic the ecu will compensate if the oil gets too hot. (or false reading of)

    Anyone have any knowledge of this?

  • I feel like that’s logical - if the valves are hydraulically actuated the ECU must have to use oil temp to adjust oil pressure to take into account whether the oil is high or low viscosity and how much pressure is needed to open / close valves properly

  • Wouldn't they have just plugged into diagnostics and gone
    "hmm. Oil temp looks high, but the engines cold, lets swap the sensor"
    Took all day?

    Needs to get it's fault codes read anyway
