We've sorted a camper van! Hoping Deliveroo will substitute as training now...
Question, will my dropper post be a liability? It's a real pain in the arse to remove but if it's going to get trashed in the grit I'll suffer through the process

Can't imagine you'd need a dropper for this kind of thing
Cut out a section of an old inner tube and use it like a dropper-johnny
-
• #29
Good idea, dropper johnny it is! Thanks

My Thomson survived last year, I fully expect my Reverb to do the same.
A dropper is not essential by any means, I found I only used mine on two sections when I was really fucking tired and the ice had buffed up to buggery.
There is a lot more to worry about I find

Not long now. Who's still in?
-
• #32
Me
But you knew that
-
• #33
Me!
We've secured a van, one friend has bought a bike off a drug dealer, another is renting. I'm off out tonight on a night ride with my pal to test our light setup. I've got some dead cheap Chinese eBay CREE thing, he's got fancy Alpkit stuff
My fitness is minimal after Christmas

Excellent. I've not ridden a bike for more than 10km since November. I've not ridden my mtb since October. I am planning to make sure it's still in my shed tomorrow.

How’s the firewood stash looking?
-
• #36
Much much better than last years stash. I don't think we'll be lucky enough to have a local replacing their kitchen this year.

Weather looking good with the forecasted minimum 10 degrees higher than last year.
Spare brake pads currently in the oven.

Strawberry and christmas tree prices are unaffected by brexit

I need to get out and bed my spares in, they're still in the packet...
Had my fork serviced today for £50, also trying to collect together my spare parts; I've got about 4 sets of pedals, a couple of stems (in case we have to swap bikes), a full set of brakes, spare derailleur and shifters, cranks and NW ring... If I had a frame, fork and wheelset I'd basically have a whole spare bike
Shit loads of abandoned Christmas trees around, I never thought of using them as firewood! I'm gonna go out and collect some tomorrow

You ever burned a Christmas tree?
Also, no open fires. Bring a firepit/stove/burning receptacle
The only spare I’m packing this year is Hope
-
• #44
No, are they explosively flammable?
We're using half a barbecue to burn stuff in
-
• #45
Hope wheels? Can i use them?
-
• #46
half a barbecue
Aah the connoisseur‘s choice. Perfect.
explosively flammable
Very much so, lots of early ‘woosh’ followed by no eyebrows or a large house fire

I've been counting down to the day WTO rules come in and tariffs get stuck on CRC prices.
But mostly I just don't want my pads to disintegrate after one lap.
@Colm89 the black market driven by our other, more notorious, export should provide anything we need from the other side of the border, if it goes up.

last few minutes in the office before I head off to see what the snow is like at home.
I look forward to spending all of tomorrow wondering if I should fit my Ice spikers or not
I’m up for this, anyone want a teammate?
