How far back/forward are they rotated? I find that can make a massive difference to comfort.
Bar width, not so much. Anything between 710-785 feels fine, as long as the sweep, rotation, and height/reach is ok.

Do they have a massive sweep to them then?
Double check where your brakes are too. I had to point my brakes to the floor before they started feeling comfortable and reduce dodgy wrist angle.
Elbows bent, or straight arms?
Do you ride flat bars/riser on any other bike? Some people just don't get on with 'normal' bars, and end up adding to Jeff Jones's retirement fund
Also, if you can slide the grips inboard, that's an easy experiment to try.
