Anyone got a WTB ST i23/i25 29" rim, or know where I could get one?
They seem sold out everywhere, and like a mug I only bought one from CRC when they were on sale. -

Does the kinlin xr31 rim zigzag slightly in a 16 spoke build or is it stiff enough for that? @cycleclinic?
edit: found an example:

I've only built one so far, but not in my experience. They're pretty stiff rims.

It's 20% wider than the Shimano RS30/31 rims, I'd expect that to yield about half the wave amplitude, and the wave is already practically non-existent on the RS30

That could also be some shimano magic :)
I did build a 16 spoke wheel with a Halo aero warrior rim. It had a slight zig zag wave. The rim weighs the same as xr31 ~500g and is 25.5mm vs 31mm high.
Maybe I used too much spoke tension (can't remember exact amount but was high...)

PlanetX has some lengths of aero spokes in for 29p. It's PlanetX so obviously you get no information about what you're buying but I took a punt anyway as they actually work out cheaper than ACI Alpina given postage cost.
The ones that I've been given are J-bend, silver, 279mm, 2.2 › 2.0 › 3.0×1.1 › 2.0. Made by Pillar according to the spoke head but nothing on their website appears to match those dimensions. I was hoping they'd be less wide - now I have to slot my hub.
They also have a small number of CX Rays for 49p (straight pull and J bend) and some other stuff like triple butted spokes for 29p
Edit: I said cheaper than ACI Alpina, but factor in that you're not getting nipples

Laced. Miche something track hub, slotted with a little file, Kinlin XR300. 32 aero spokes is pretty stupid but meh. Should be massively overbuilt for me at 80kg.

Trying to build a coaster brake wheel for the Brompton. Constrained by a 36h hub, and have the option of a 28h or 32h 16”rim, or custom drilling if necessary. 36 spokes seems a lot for such a small wheel. Do I have any other lacing options? Thanks :)

Go here and get a 36H.

SA makes a 28H hub as well.

MTB: Pal trying to service a pal of his' freehub after it stopped catching/providing drive (no play etc)...it's a transition hub laced to Mavic rim. He's stripped cleaned/degunked it and it's now catching the pawls however one pawl was not springing/had no tension. He's now worked out his to remove the o ring, collar and pawls and having turned the o ring round it's now functioning better. Can anyone identify the freehub and whether spare o ring/spring/pawls can be purchased given it'll likely happen again? TIA

You can get 20 or 24 if you want. Not sure it's necessarily a good idea though.

I'm looking for a wide-ish 26" rim-brake rim for my MTB and am really struggling to find anything other than the Ryde/Rigida Big Bull and the H+ Todestrieb.
Any other recommendations?

Ryde Andra 40 is top notch, wide and cheap. Bit heavy.

Ryde Andra 40
Oh man I didn't realise you could get the Andra in larger sizes, and even better they're on SJS in black for a good price. Perfect, thanks!

Velocity Cliffhanger. Lighter than Sputnik/andra, beefy enough. Wish I’d taken Tom at Parts & Labour’s advice to get them for the roughstuff I’m building.
It was about a full turn and a half between the tight and the loose ones. I just brought the loose ones up to tension and went on from there. Let's just hope it turns out ok. :-)
