No excuse to not take loads of coal!
One of my top bothy moments was snuggling down in a cold dark damp hut when some beast of a man wanders through the door with a full bag of coal, 6 candles and a litre of whisky. Our evening brightened up in every way.
You can now be that man on wheels!

Sorry for barging in on the thread, but do you guys know of a lightweight/portable and (ideally) USB powered bug zapper? I believe I've seen it somewhere but can't find it anywhere now.
Something kind of stationary, not those weird tennis racket things. -

Would anyone be interested in LFGSS Bikepacking Weekend no.X, the Peak District edition?

that trailer looks ace.
Is there any point it having a nobbly tyre though? when will it need to be gripping? Wouldn't a super light slick make more sense? -
• #4936
Super light slick on a loaded trailer is probably going to be a flat magnet.
-
• #4937
TBH I don't think the tyre needs to be knobbly but I'm going to leave it as is just now. Can't wait for the first bothy adventure.
-
• #4938
I don't know, if you're going off-road every now and then, a tyres that don't slide sideways when trying to navigate a path might be more of a benefit.
Super light slick on a loaded trailer is probably going to be a flat magnet.
I can see your reasoning, however it won't, unless you have the weight of a person on that trailer.
-
• #4939
a knobbly tyre definitely looks better

Followed both threads and hoping for some enthusiastic person to arrange peak district version

Trailer test ride this morning. Little bit of bar wobble but it really rides nicely, hardly know it's there!

What's the format of these things, is it a mass train trip out of london for wales/peaks etc? Would be keen to join if I can, but no longer London based (not that far though)
-
• #4949

for the new forest one, lyndhurst.
for the wales one, merthyr tydfil
for the peaks one, sheffield. -

Just to say there isn’t a train station at Lyndhurst. Do you mean Brockenhurst?
New toy for bike trips to bothys.
