Nope.

EF was one of Rand's final logos, in 1994. The specific BASF logo with the swirl posted above is around a decade later, but there were earlier versions; the lettering dates from 1986.

I'll have to check when I get home, but I also have a sample of the swirl element on a box of reel-to-reel tape which I think dates from the 1970s.
