The path of the stopless can not be ridden by everyone.

• #16853
Yes, I thought I was indestructible once too.....................
-
• #16854
So you have come to save us?
-
• #16855
Nah...... but you can't buy experience!
-
• #16856
You are Charlie Alliston AICMFP
-
• #16857
Nope, next guess.......
-
• #16858
BTW...... Charlie Alliston hasn't been riding fixed for 40 years......... unless he was a very clever baby?!
-
• #16859
Brakes=death. Any fixie skidder worth their salt knows that. More people have died or been injured with brakes than without FACT!!!!!1
Helmets just make people want to kill you and lights cause fights. -
• #16860
Strangely that's not actually true.
Yes there are more people killed with brakes, but only because there are not many 'skidders' (who are statistically more likely to be killed)!
The key word in your tirade is 'skidder'....... a more credible observation is that Skid = Death;
You are not above physics or other peoples stupidity!
BTW - 5 exclamation marks is shouting and is just rude! -
• #16861
Yes, but the law says 2 brakes are required
Nope. Fixed wheel does count as a method of braking. Law requires one brake if fixed (as long as its on the front), 2 if freewheel
-
• #16862
Does slamming shoe/foot/whatever is solid in wheel count as braking?
-
• #16863
You are his mam?
-
• #16864
That's right, as I said a 'secondary' brake is required as well as your fixed wheel.
Nice to hear a voice of reason........ -
• #16865

There's a thin line between clever and stupid. You just crossed it. Since fixed counts as a brake, a bike with fixed plus a front brake has two brakes. Ooh, that's exactly what the law requires, exactly as our sanctimonious no-name commentator says 🙂

• #16866
As if.......
That's for those BMX boys :/ -
• #16867
King of pedants is fine with calling fixed gear a brake?
You've changed man.
It is a method of braking but its not an actual brake is it?
Anyway, I looked above our new friend's original post and saw the first few bikes all with front brakes so probably wrongly assumed he was on about adding a rear.Edit: In fact I'd go as far as to say it isn't actually a method of braking but rather decelerating since braking is most often achieved by means of friction

Oh goodness. Turn your irony detector on, dismount your unnecessarily high horse and get back under your bridge.
-
• #16869
Exactly my point, but my comment was about the numb nuts who ride 'round with only the fixed wheel!
Not sure I like the 'sanctimonious' tag? :) -
• #16870
Actually velodrome rules don't permit many of these bikes as they have the wrong styles of handlebars or have brakes fitted. Can't just turn up at a velodrome with your brakeless bullhorn bike and expect to ride.
-
• #16871
Not sure I like the 'sanctimonious' tag? :)
There's a very easy way to not get called sanctimonious
-
• #16872
Now there's a change of tone....... not much irony to detect in your previous post!
I truly hope that you don't believe the previous stuff you wrote?! -
• #16873
jeez?
-
• #16874
Correct, but you can hire a bike and shoes from the velodrome and be taught the rules of the track..... sorry to disappoint but anarchy doesn't work on the track.
-
• #16875
That's for those BMX boys :/
That's sexist and also discriminating us fixie skidders
Ban pls
Just hope you don't eat door handle one day!!
Being a rebel is great until the shit hits the fan (or car door)?!
I've bin there!
