Saw this in Dublin yesterday. Was late for work so couldn't get a better pic. Most bling tark bits I've seen in Dublin, Zen ring, phil hubs, carbon bars with cracked rattle can paint job. Must be "on here"

Just the work hack / pub runner, marathons holdin up fine for skidz
-
• #16835
Yeah, marathons are great for a pub bike, it’s more the hubs that I’m nervous about :)

Just trawled through about 30 pages trying to find your blog. Big fan, especially the cabins. Keep it up.

I have this 1976 frame. In the beginning I had a completed different plan for it. But I just fell in love with the style - with different components. I think that this frame would work fine here. I am looking for the components in local places. it Will be a fixed gear. Thanks for the inspirations.

Cool badge from a cheap frame.
That saddle in the background is generally considered to be an implement of torture.
Have a good time but don’t throw a lot of dough at this project.
Or do, and make a blog about it. -

Yep! I think this saddle was a bad idea.
Caloi was very popular in Brazil at that age and this particular frame was built in Japan by Araya. -

Nice bikes, only one problem with them ..........they're short of a brake! I have ridden fixed for 40 years and it really is worth having a secondary brake guys! Oh and it's the law as well.....;) if something happens you are the one that's f*@ked!
I hope that some of you who are riding fixie will have a go at riding the velodrome, after all this is the natural habitat of these beautiful bikes! -

Close the forum guys, @user96935 is on to you
-
• #16846
Erm, Surely if your riding fixed the rear fixed wheel count as brake?
-
• #16847
Yes, but the law says 2 brakes are required, so a secondary brake is a must. There are times when your legs just won't do, such as when a car pulls out on front of you (personal experience), that's when a front brake is a must, it's much more immediate!
There are some seriously good looking brakes out there so they can look cool! Take a look at Diacompe aero brakes. But the bottom line is that if you aint got two brakes the law will have you (or the insurance company)!
Now then don't get me started on lights....... -
