  • Here's my realistic suggestion of how this will pan out:

    It's going to be a tired AF 140k mile Ford with questionable build quality, so maybe not a shed inside if it's been looked after, but if it's not had high levels of maintenance everything that's supposed to make it comfortable, will no longer be doing its job.

    If the engine hasn't been abused then it will probably offer a few thousand miles of abuse before shitting the bed.

    I have no experience of those particular cars, but I'm just going with my personal experience of many different 90s cars, and also growing up in Essex where every Sierra had blue smoke pouring out of it, even N/A ones.

    If you just want a few months of LOLs then throw it in a garage to rot or spend a tonne of cash on it, then you'll be laughing. If you think you're going to get an even semi-reliable performance saloon, then I think you're going to be disappointed.

  • The hairdryer will soften the glue and leave less residue than if you just try and take it off cold.

    Interesting that he recommends Windex over a solvent for the remaining residue.

  • The driver's and shotgun side windows have creased in the Queensland heat, they need to be swapped out straight away, and the rear view windown is a disaster, half has already peeled off and I'm told it's illegal to drive around like that... I've been very slack about getting it off... The rear side windows are still perfect, maybe I could leave them as they are and save a few quid...

  • Nokian z line for a good in wet weather 3 season tyre.
    Michelin Cross climate for an almost 4 season tyre that is solid on snow, slush, bus diesel, city grease, rain, deep rain and snow again. Not as good on 20c plus dry tarmac but when does that ever happen here lol

  • It does have a guarantee... if you mark the installation date on the little sticker. Which I didn't of course, but could find out since I probably know when it was bought.

    Anyway, voltmeter on it this morning and it was 12.9V which seems reasonable to me. Maybe I'll stick it back in and wait for it to go flat again :)

  • F**king 'authorised' volvo workshop bastards. Serviced the V70 there last year, was told all is well, no cambelt change due for a zillion miles at least. Called to book this years service and the guy goes "you've missed your cambelt change, are you crazy? Come here and pay me £1500 at once!". Not likely. Having a local indy do it for £600 after a pleasant chat just now. Added bonus of them also calling volvo a bunch of ignorant c*nts. Never again.
