To be fair, tracking menstrual cycles is really useful for a number of reasons and I know plenty of people who do so to help their partners keep track. Android apps are preferred, rather than moonphase watches...

Entirely legitimate use.

But who have those requirements tend to avoid decorator related analogies. And, as you have pointed out, moonphase watches are not best for meeting those requirements.
