  • Anyone tiny person or ladies want a BMC? I bought this some years ago but just cannot get on with it, nothing wrong with it, just not my cup of tea...

    https://www.evanscycles.com/bmc-road-racer-sl01-2010-road-bike-00129475

It's XS so I think it's about 44m for seat top and 52cm for top tube. I am 168cm so not that short and this is a good ish fit...

Currently deciding if I want to stripe the parts and sell as F+F or as complete bike...

Will have to check size properly and take some proper pics soon for an ad, but just in case someone is interested pre sale...

  • My gf may be interested. She's not actively on market but if you decide to sell full bike let me know and I'll see how the photos sway her

  • Cool, will get some pics done tail end of the week etc, it was last checked by Brixton Cycles end of last summer and it's been hung on the wall ever since...

  • I have a 53cm version of that bmc. Done thousands and thousands of miles on it with zero problems. If yours has the tp version of the fork (tapered, full carbon) then they are a very good bike. A bit numb feeling initially but with good wheels and tyres it gets better and the harder you push it the more lively it gets. Anyone looking for a good crit racer... That'd be a good option.

  • Is that a sale pitch to help sell my bike? ;-)

When I say I don't get on with it, there isn't any particular reason just it doesn't feel right for me... it's like not the right coffee bean not right feeling... still good coffee, I mean good bike... I loan it to a friend for a few weeks for her club ride and she loved it...

  • Just helping out, like a phantom bidder.

I get what you mean about the feel. I still enjoy riding my old caad more, even with the fear of it crumbling underneath me... Yet it's my favorite bike.

The joy in the bmc is that it feels rock solid and dependable. And still looks relatively modern.

  • :-) Now I need to take some pretty pictures!!!

  • Anyone interested in BMC TrackMachine TRC01 size 59?

Top Tube: 57,5 cm Center to Center
Seat Tube: 57 cm Center to Center

    Cheerss!

  • I could be. What is the price, condition etc?

  • Sent you a PM!

  • Tell me more

  • I've read that its advisable to size down on BMC frames - can any owners share views?

  • Can't imagine that you could say you need to size down on an entire brand of bike. Just look at the geometry chart for the model you're considering.

I had a BMC one size too small once and it was much too small

  • It's a sweeping statement but I've read it quite a few times. I'm in between sizes too

How tall are you and what size was your small BMC ?

  • I’m 6”1 but usually ride a 56cm. It was a 54 and very low at the front

  • I’m 6’4” with a 58cm and wish I had bought a 61cm more and more (but that’s because I’ve lost the flexibility).
The stack and reach measurements are on their charts at good so use them against your bike fit.
The only reason I can see for recommending smaller is for aero and stiffness purposes.

  • Ok thanks. The stack on my current 55 frame is quite a bit smaller than the BMC 54 so I’d probably get away with that.

None of the Evans in London appear to have any in stock to try out in person which is a shame

  • Both you and @mdle wished you sized up which is contrary to what I have heard

  • In fairness, I already "size down" to my usual 56cm.
I just cant see how a rule would apply like that across the whole range. Something like the GF01 would be much more realxed, probably taller than say an SLR01

  • i'm 193cm (6'4") with a 58cm roadmachine 01. 61cm would be too big, even this 58cm felt a bit big in the beginning.

  • 54 it is! Thanks all

  • If I'm 5' 10" will a 54cm Roadmachine be too small... I quite want it low and pointy
